You seemed to really like your company in this post.
Are you saying that their new woke methods of hiring are making it a miserable experience?
Not trying to be snide or rude at all. That thread you said you applaud them, then kind of run them down the rest of the thread.
You may have been saying you applaud their stupidity in the new hiring methods and I just misunderstood.

Networking is for brown nosers who want to be yes men for managers who do frick all for their company. I hate networking. I can do the job, either hire me or tell me to keep it moving. If you have a better candidate, great, hire them, that’s what I’d do.
And don’t ask me to tell you my weakness/strength because I’m going to give you the exact same answer for both and it’s a bullshite answer for a bullshite question. Also “where do I see myself in 5 years?” fricking your wife that’s where. Stupid arse question. And don’t ask me anything about social/political nonsense in the interview. I’m not running for office nor am I applying for a job with a politician or political consulting firm so it’s irrelevant.
Either I can do the job effectively or not. For me, I hate wasting my time so if I’m applying for a job, it’s because I know I can do it and probably better than the nutsacks you had/have doing it currently. If anything, I’m underselling myself.
Anyways, women suck in HR and if you can get them talking about anything other than the job that creates positive feelings, then you’re golden. People don’t always remember what you said, but they’ll remember how you made them feel and women love feeling some shite.

I will hire you right now if you’re proficient in 2020 design and can sell.

Data Science? What skills? I am curious . What applications are you good at? What certs ( Sec+, Server+...PMP) Are you familiar with what's going on with Machine Learning. Any clearances?

My wife is a recruiter for a company that deals with placing tech guys in DoD and NASA positions throughout the US. You don't need to go to California if you have high tech skills.
Also, you can't stay in LA /MS either. But Huntsville has a lot. Florida panhandle, mainly FTWalton area. Augusta, GA. In TX I know there is a lot she's pumping in Houston associated with NASA and defense firms in Dallas. But you need CompTIA certs and minimum a secret clearance which seems a lot, but a lot of these sub contractors will sponsor the right person.

My experience, people hire people they want to work with and see everyday.
I looked for 2 things when hiring.
1. Do I like you and do you like me? Because if we do, I’m confident that we can work together to problem solve. Can you fit into our culture overall? I like and welcome different opinions and ways of doing things as long as it is not totally disruptive or disrespectful to the greater good of the team.
2. Do you have the will to do the job? This shows me that they have passion. Skill set, for what I used to do is important but that can be taught and learned. That is what a leader does. If a person only has a skill set and no will, I didn’t want them.

About 50% of people missed the sarcasm in that post.
Their D&I stuff doesn't really bother me, so much as it indicates a complete detachment from a desire for profitability and represents the utmost form of corporate navel-gazing and THAT bothers me.
I look at a company that's 10 years behind operationally, that has tens of thousands of talented employees who's talents are completely dismissed, no upward career path, and billions of dollars in profit flushed down the drain keeping other failed projects on life support - and when confronted with all of this, their main priority is to hire 20 more black workers at HQ and do nothing for the 20,000 black employees that already work for them.

My tips which don’t apply to each industry because not always applicable:
- At the end of each interview (and reinforce this in the thank you note after the interview), adamantly ask for a sample project/task that you can turn around for them in 24 hours to show them and then crush that project in a format that can be emailed back.
- Find some mutual connection that already works for the company on LinkedIn (or beg a third party for an intro) and ask them for a 5 minute call to learn about the culture and then reference that to the recruiter; “I have a mutual connection with John Doe in Accounting and I was able to speak with him about the environment at Acme and it sounds like everything I am looking for in a place I want to be with long term.”
- If no initial response from a company that you believe you are a fantastic fit for their job description, seek out some commonality with any of their publicly listed C-Level/Senior Management folks (maybe you both are alums of the same college or charity that person is on the board of or that person has been a guest in a podcast or was interviewed in some format by a trade publication and there is something you can say you connected with and show them that them doing that interview wasn’t a waste of their time) . Show your initiative and shoot your shot in an email to them (not hard to find their email addresses). 90% may ignore you and delete it without response but 10% will at least click forward to their HR lead (who will then be obligated to interview you because it is coming from the C-Level person who may follow-up casually - “did you follow-up with the guy who sent the nice note about my podcast interview?”). Also, try mailing something personally relevant to them with a copy of your resume and a hand written note. They will at least give it to their Admin to give to someone in HR and it may seem like it was hand selected.
My CEO literally responds to every single email he gets from non-sales people. He forwards every job request to the heads of the departments and will casually follow up a week or so later “did anyone get back to the guy who sent me his resume?”
