Could they have claimed some sort of tenets rights in this situation?

Id probably save my anger until after discussions with the preacher. You say he’s a good guy so let him live up to that before throwing salt on your relationship with him and his family. Yes he’s naive but we need the balance of truly good hearted nativity in the world as it sounds as if he’s walking the walk.

It sounds like he managed the situation as soon as he was informed, why are you upset? He was nice, it failed, and then he fixed it.

I don't know. Almost a week of drug fueled crazies running around right outside my house has me slightly upset?

The main issue is that he wasn't contacted sooner IMO.

I couldn't find his contact info or I would have called him after the first night.

You need to upload the footage to YouTube. You'll be the hero of the trailer park.

I don't I think you should be mad at all. Their intentions are good and we could use more people in the world willing to do the right thing but he's definitely naive. I would make sure he knows how it's disturbing everybody and causing a problem that reflects poorly on him. I don't think you have to preach to him at all about his naivete. I think he just learned that lesson.

Agree with this. With that said, he does it again and then the neighbors need to make the verbal fight between the homeless people look like a minor heated discussion

I agree with the "he's a good guy so discuss it with him," but my concern would be more about his judgment of letting these people have run of his house (and neighborhood) for that long without him around. That goes way beyond "being nice." It's borderline negligent (and maybe not even borderline).

Does a neighbor have a key? Probably should (with his permission) go through his house or change the locks. If he’s the kind of guy you know will pay you back. That turd is coming back.

Also be a good idea to be there when the preacher goes in. Sounds like the couple left in a hurry and you preacher is naive. He may not know what felonies are laying around his place.

I'd be mad and but just let him know that won't fly again. You have kids next door.

I'm sure he feels bad and probably learned his lesson but I'd still have a talk with him.

Was there any property damage to his house?

I don't know if anyone has been inside.

But I do know that they were banging around and throwing stuff several nights.

Their fights got intense.

I’d be shocked if there wasn’t. Valuables are certainly gone.

We had a coworker who had a similar situation happen. He was a super-lib, always going on and on about the homeless problem and how we should be doing more since we’re so “privileged”, etc.

One day we called his bluff and egged him on to allow a homeless guy that hung out down the street from our office to stay in his house for the night. I give him credit because he did put his money where his mouth was and let the guy sleep at his house.

Long story short, he was late as shite the next day to work. Turns out, while he was asleep the homeless dude quietly cleaned out his house and bounced. Took his TVs off the walls, stole his phone and wallet, all the alcohol in the house, electronics, pretty much anything of value. I still bust out laughing when I think about it to this day.

Preacher man is kinda stupid. His intentions are good, but good intentions also paved the road to hell

Wow what a terrible take. That phrase relates to people who had thoughts of doing good things but never did. This preacher guy actually did something and that he does lots of good in his community vs the average person who might have good intentions but never act upon it. So your use of this phrase for this scenario is way off.

This man didn't go to war or justify some heinous act because he thought "it would be for the better good."

He was simply practicing what he literally preached about by trying to take care of those less fortunate than him. It's just unfortunate that the pair he tried to help clearly didn't or maybe even couldn't appreciate it.
