Is there a police presence in The Quarter anymore?? Honest question.
Back when I was going to NOLA they were everywhere. City cops along with local dudes nearby cities and Parrish sheriffs working as second jobs on weekends and especially used on holidays.
Seems they’ve taken the Minority Report blueprint of policing. Wait for crimes to happen then review the tape? Not really any prevention.
I remember literally being able to stumble into cops if you weren’t careful. They were all over. And god forbid you tried to take a leak in a corner or an alley when the bars got packed. It was as stressful as trying to hide a body and not get caught.

It’s following the Homeland formula of a whole season to close one storyline. But Reacher is getting more ridiculous. How does this massive dude with Asperger’s randomly stumble into one multi faceted international crime syndicate after another? The show needs to resolve that question before it wraps.

Not the next day but like a week or two after I saw firemen holding out boots at a red light to collect for victims. Wasn’t sketchy fake firemen. They were wearing the uniforms from the town I was in. In their dept vehicles. People were fumbling in their cars to find paper money. $20 bills minimum. I only had a 10 on me and felt like a piece of shite.

My line in the sand is $65,000.
As a kid Magnum PI Red Ferrari cost $65k. It was 1984 but damn. To think that’s just a run of the mill Ford pick up now.

Not near NY but I worked night shift 9/10 and 9/11. My mom called to wake us up and tell us.
I drove past IAH airport every day on 59. Was eerie to see NOTHING in the sky while traffic crawled on 59. Planes always fly over you as the runways are perpendicular to the highway.

I don’t see it. The only solution is an asylum system again. Most of those were state and charity funded. Legally it is a different world. I can’t see long term involuntary holding ever being allowed without violent crime.

Scrolling last night. Saw 2 random lives. One NOLA. Dude walking the FQ. He’s in the gay section walking out down Bourbon. There is a smattering of people. No bouncers or door guys at the bars.
Then Nashville. Guy can’t even walk around. Street is so packed. Drinks, music, happy faces, pretty faces. What NOLA was for me in the 1990’s.

Just in the short time I’ve been flying (2002) flying and planes have gotten so uncomfortable. I get it.
The days of wearing a suit and tie are long gone. Slacks and a shirt even. Why? To be stuffed into a tube and sweat? Sit in a tiny seat? Fresh shaved face? So I can sit in a nasty seat with a dirty head rest then wonder why I have a rash in 3 days.
Planes are dirty. Dress accordingly.
