Age 18-44 is pretty eye opening. Complete government created problem

Yeah… Most people who post on this board are “other.” (La/Tx and the age group).

Unclassified Deaths by the Coroner. (i.e. homicides that aren't labeled homicides).

Or they could be counting the banned poster death rate on this board. RIP LucasP

A cursory Google Search reveals this 25 year-old statement:

“Prior reports of increased suicides in the U.S. Mountain Region (e.g., Colorado) have prompted speculation that the excess is owing to greater access to firearms, increased isolation, or reduced income (CDC, 1997).”

"Other" is a category that is any other reason not listed so it can mean a lot of things.

It's TX and LA and you can add drownings to alcoholism.

A lot of those states are more middle America and midwest but to your point it doesn't seem to be as prevalent on the east and gulf coasts which is surprising

If they were honest and updated the statement they would include the part I added and underlined.

Colorado has apparently become a depressing State.

Would not have guessed that. I wonder how much the west coast influx - population and politics - has affected that?

Maybe also that 40 years ago Colorado decided to lean heavily into tourism and secondary estates for the wealthy, both of which have made the COL skyrocket for locals in the mountainous region of the State.

It's been that way for a very long time. They've attributed it to high rates of alcoholism among Natives, desolation in desert areas, low light and lots of overcast days in areas like Oregon, Washington, and Alaska

Props to New Mexico, where the leading cause of death in my age group is cirrhosis of the liver.
