I’ve got a stupid amount of clothes. Enough that I can go 10–12 weeks without washing anything and still wear something clean every day. Nothing gets reworn in that stretch.

The problem is when laundry day finally hits, it’s a monster. One giant session that I put off because I know it’ll take forever and wipe me out. I work a lot, I’m single so there’s nobody else doing it, and I keep telling myself I’ll stay on top of it as I go. I never do.

I’m more than willing to pay somebody. Not dry cleaning. Just regular wash, fold, and I’ve got enough wooden hangers for all the shirts and pants. Collared shirts and pants for work every day, but nothing that needs ironing or special handling other than a few silk Hawaiian shirts :pimp:.

The catch is I’m particular. Specific detergent, fabric softener, and I like the scent beads (queue the gay comments :rolleyes:). I don’t want somebody dumping generic Tide in there and calling it good.

Anybody around BR using a pickup service, or a wash-and-fold place? Worth it? Any horror stories? Or do y’all just suck it up and do it yourselves?

New Orleans was destined for a decline from its heyday of 200 years ago - the gateway to the Mississippi doesn’t have the financial power it used to, but it should still be one of the wealthiest cities in the South and the most prosperous tourist-based city in the country. But, we just had to frick it all up. C’est la vie.

This is counterproductive with modern machines. Dishwashers use sensors to determine how dirty the dishes are by the state of the water during the first round of spraying - if you’ve already wiped the dishes visibly clean then it will assume they are clean and will treat them as such; if it detects a lot of debris in the water then it will give the dishes the full salvo and get them as clean as possible. If your machine smells then you’ve got a filer that’s probably in need of cleaning or a foods/solids processor issue.
