I just read my renters insurance policy. There is a flood exclusion. So the contents inside are not insured for flood.

But if the house is blown off the map, I’m guessing they would be covered? Lol

I’m laughing because I never considered I needed to insure the contents of my rental for hurricane until just now.

Most coastlines have a steep slope—you don’t have to go far inland to gain significant elevation. SW La. the slope is almost imperceptible—in some places it is negative. You can be on high ground at the coast and the road behind you in the marsh is under water. You have to go a long way to gain any kind of elevation. Very easy to get cut off. And then there’s nowhere to go.

Awesome info as well, thanks for it!

Could you imagine if this thing would have went to NOLA and hit the Hard Rock making things worse and damaging nearby property? Talk about some lawsuits galore.

Will the Cameron parish courthouse be the only building left standing in the town?

That courthouse has seen some violent storms. Those new brightly painted homes nearby...not so much.

convection kicking up again, i wonder if we see 150mph+ at the 8pm advisory

Why are we even waiting for advisories? Can't the direct radar observations pretty much tell us what the maximum speed the radar saw was at any point in time? At this moment, those things aren't in the 360 degree sweep mode you normally see Rob Perillo reporting on. Every radar in range is locked directly on this storm, constantly scanning it over and over.

She also said “I know most residents don’t have basements in Louisiana.”

Just talked to Cameron Sheriff. He said they are all out and no one is staying at the courthouse, high school or otherwise. Said they went door to door. They’re in Allen Parish and will be heading to LC tomorrow.
