He's referring to that radar loop, now that can be deceiving but it does give that appearance. I'm sure one of the pros will address it shortly.

Rita was the most intense cyclone on record while in the GOM.

Yes, but it weakened a lot before it hit land.

Fellas, if you don't mind, say a prayer for my nephew. He is still at the Children's Hospital in Houston, while his parents have had to evacuate to San Antonio. He can't be moved.

I'm here in Houston. If he needs something delivered to him, let me know and I'll do it.

My wife and I got to Nola around noon. Left our house in LC at 8. We just bought our first house a year ago. I’m trying not to think about it, but at this rate I’m expecting to find my house split in half when I’m able to get back. Thank god for insurance.

Labor day weekend if the opening of the season, if you have a large enough field and enough spots for multiple (10-20+) hunters normally in groups of 2 and you have birds you can charge $75-$100 per person.

Louisiana is flat as hell. It's almost all marsh land in the first 10-15 miles from the "coast". There aren't some vast network of roads to escape. 95% of the time you're driving parallel to the coast down there, not actually getting away.

It's no place to frick around with rising water, plain and simple.

Excellent info! Thanks! I figured there was some topographical/infrastructure nuance such as this but this is a good explanation, thanks! I would *assume* the chasers would have this understanding before they undertook this but if not sounds like it will be the undertaker for them(if they don't get washed away)...yikes!
