Chasing Michael was one thing because at least it made landfall in daylight. Here it will be making a landfall in the dead of night in a region where the topography does not favor a good outcome for a person caught in rising water.

LINK

Here's a good site to check weather reports for as long as the stations are operational.

The station IDs for some good ones are

Lake Charles KLCH
Sulphur KUXL
Beaumont/Port Arthur, TX KBPT
Orange, TX KORG

Type the 4 letter code into the bar and hit translated unless you want to read METAR code

got flooded down here in 2016. I understand at least part of that emotion. Hoping for the best for you, your family, and friends.

Appreciate it.

Your info, along with rds and everyone else that’s chimes through has been invaluable. This board and the posters are more valuable than some may believe. Wife and I have been reading since the thread has started.

Someone actually asked if they could hunt if they made a donation. Other things to think about at the moment but maybe? My husband also said that he'd replant them for me .. maybe depending on time.

Still NNW with what looks like a slight due N wobble in the last few frames.

How far north is likely for the turn? Not due north, correct?

there have been several tornadoes spotted in BR and most of EBR Parish is under a tornado warning.

My work just moved to a new facility in Luling. Apparently the tornado alarms are right outside my building, because they just went off and scared the shite out of me.

Do you add the forward speed of the storm to the wind speed?
I have no idea. Not that it makes too much difference at this point.

No, I don't believe (I've wondered this myself).

The winds are measured relative to the ground, so 145 MPH is the max wind in the NE quadrant (essentially 3 o'clock assuming forward direction is 12 o'clock). If forward speed is 15 MPH, that means the "storm" winds are 130 MPH in the eye, or 145 MPH (130+15) in the 3 o'clock position and 115 MPH (130-15) in the 9 o'clock position.

Same to you tgrbait .. we should be fine water wise and no trees near the house to reach it.

Side note, knowing that this was coming, we went to the field Monday and took pics, some of the field and a good one of my husband and myself .. they were beautiful. I posted a couple in this thread but who knows where they are.

It’s generally moving exactly along the NHC track that’s been nearly the same for the past 36 hours.
