National Hurricane Center tweeted this about 20 minutes ago:



Rutherford Beach area (Eugene Island) is already seeing 40 MPH sustained winds with about 3' of surge, which is enough to wash some roads out.

A word of caution about tornadoes and warnings. These will be spin-up type tornadoes that could have little-to-no lead time. They often aren't monster tornadoes, so if you're in a sound structure, you're fairly safe. However, outside, on the road driving, or in a mobile home, they can be deadly. Just expect them, and try to stay in as safe a place as possible.

My oldest two kids' first Hurricane was Katrina. They were 3 and 6 months old. I have pics of both of em butt arse nekkid in the front yard on day 2 of no power in Baton Rouge. I woulda posted that shite.
