i mean some i agree with, but just saying...NOLA at number 2....GTFO with that

I'm biased, because I lived there before. But, for someone who makes good money and can afford the live in the best neighborhoods and send your kids to the best schools, New Orleans is a pretty great place to live, IMO.

Now, if you are talking about living there as someone who makes average money, no definitely not.

Some people will ignore all the unbiased metrics and put all their faith in the "eyeball test" instead. Despite it being proven over and over again that human memory is imperfect.

Unbiased metrics, find the last college guard that was drafted who averaged less than 5 points per game in their last collegiate season.

I've never experienced this as an issue. There's also a metro line into the city :dunno:

Prepare for crippling depression. Post-COVID remote work has not been good to the mental well-being of any of my friends.

Probably has more to do with your friends than the work. I’ve worked remotely for 14 years.

The countries I have interest in offer benefits for XPats & 0 taxes if income is from outside the country they.

I understand that you may want to work from another country, I’m just telling you from my anecdotal experience, some companies will not allow you to perform your job duties while in another country.

Many positions saying “remote” are often hybrid positions. Not fully remote.

Usually, in my experience if there is any sort restriction on where you can live it is listed in the application. Some companies won’t hire people located in X state, or will require that you live in Y state.

Any of you have advice on how to enter the remote work world? Strong cpu software, business, & finance background.

Just search your desired job title on LinkedIn, Indeed, etc… :dunno:

Obviously some fields are more likely than others to have remote opportunities.

Interested in moving away from Louisiana. Possibly another country

You should know if you are dealing with sensitive information some companies will not allow you to work remotely outside of the US.

Same, so I just take them off.

Yep, you can leave your belt and shoes on in the pre-check line. That is of course if your shoes and belt have zero metal on them. Who has a belt with no metal on it?

Healthcare really isn’t great. The pay is about half of what you can get in greater Houston with the COL not being much lower to justify

You can't really lump all of "healthcare" into one segment. There are definitely some decent healthcare jobs.

ETA: but you do have a point that it's basically only healthcare and O&G, at least here in Lafayette. The vast majority of my friends fall into those two categories.

I don’t think I know a single person outside of a professional setting (looking at their tax returns) that I know exactly how much money they make.

You've never discussed this with a colleague or former colleague? How do you know the true market value of a position you are applying for?

To be fair he was a fat fricking guard and not a 6’7 tackle

I haven't come across any of the “new” 101 picks yet. Still see Kentucky Spirit on the shelf here. If I see any Camp Nelson’s I pick them up. Definitely my favorite warehouse at WT.
