How old? 4 year is a standard shelfie, that is pretty good, IMO.
Anything older will have a premium, some of the older Willett ryes are very good.

re: Grill Talk: Can some of you share your recent experiences buying grills?
Posted by Epic Cajun on 7/9/26 at 5:40 pm to DiamondDog
Can’t speak to rectec but I’ve had a Green Mountain Grill (also a pellet smoker), for 7 years now and it does the trick for long cooks.
I also have a BGE for direct heat cooks.

Now they are 4+3 tracks that give you a Doctorate. I feel like that is something people in academia dreamed up as being a good idea. Now the graduate school tuition for these programs is very high and people are graduating with 150k+ in debt.
My wife has a degree in one of these fields that used to be a masters but is now a doctorate. I put her through school and tuition was around 45-50k total for her 4 year doctorate degree. She had idiot classmates with 100k+ in student loans, but they were also the ones going on trips to Mexico, Jamaica, etc… while we were pinching pennies to pay her tuition without taking out loans.
I’m aware that not everyone has a spouse that makes enough money to pay for their graduate school out of pocket, but also I don’t think it’s necessary to take out loans for 3x the amount of tuition either.
ETA: she graduated 9 years ago, so I would assume tuition increased, but not wildly so
re: Anyone else been disproportionately summoned to jury duty?
Posted by Epic Cajun on 7/9/26 at 7:21 am to StringedInstruments
I’ve been summoned twice, both for federal court, and I didn’t have to go either time. My SiL once served on a grand jury and had to go to the court house once a week for a year or something like that.

I’m all about mid-sized watches but anything below 34mm is a bit much, and I have a 6.25” wrist.

I still take 90 headed back to Metairie, if I'm traveling from west of Lafayette, so I don't have to deal with the bridge in Baton Rouge. It's only about a 20 minute difference.
I take 90 pretty much every time that I need to go to New Orleans from Lafayette, even if it’s 15-20 minutes longer. I’d much rather that than risk sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on I-10.

Another example of consolidation is Orleans Parish and the City of New Orleans. They don't have a Parish President or Parish Council, everything is consolidated into a City Council and City Mayor.
Well, isn’t the city of New Orleans the whole of Orleans Parish? I don’t think there are any unincorporated areas of Orleans Parish, so it makes sense for that to be consolidated.

So like every team that actually wants to win wants the guy who is 41 yet still played at or near an All-NBA level.
You think the Knicks would want LeBron?
It’s funny that the moment no one wants to pay LeBron max money it’s now no longer about the money to him

Soccer viewership is very fragmented. MLS might not be up to par. But if you include the various leagues, it's the second most watched sport in our country.
I find that hard to believe.

Maybe, but if Americans start featuring more routinely for these well-known teams in the top leagues, they'll care.
Some, maybe. But your average sports fan isn’t going to be interested in soccer to a great extent until the competition here in the US is up to par. Is that ever going to happen? Who knows?

Will be difficult to create a top league that can't participate in Champions League.
Yeah I get it, but IMO that’s the main reason why soccer hasn’t taken off here in the US. We basically have the equivalent to Euro-league basketball in the MLS. It’s just too low of a tier for the average American to care about.

Once you start following a specific team (for whatever reason that is), you’ll get hooked and it doesn’t take very long for them to become one of “your teams” I picked Liverpool cause one of the first games I watched on tv was the 2005 Champions League final aka the miracle in Istanbul. Steven Gerrard was also my favorite player. These days you can watch any premier league team you want. They used to really only show the “big 6” teams on tv so choosing one of those logically made the most sense Now, I’m just as emotionally attached to Liverpool games as I am for Astros and LSU
Call me crazy, but I can’t get emotionally hooked as a fan for a team that isn’t local. I’ve never understood people who could be Lakers fans while living in Louisiana, and I’m not saying that as an insult, I just can’t make myself care about a team that I have no “connection” to.
