TigerDoc has been following Andrei Soldatov.

*tips cap*
ETA: anybody interested in learning more about that "sloppy as hell" history should check out Christo Grozev, whose job is basically to own the GRU.

Yes. I think the reason it passed with so many votes (less than 60 against in the House) is partly because it's considered cheap (including in lives) compared to likely alternatives.
And speaking of Congress, did anyone else see yesterday that the Senate is going to put a resolution a request to the Secretary of State to designate Russia a state sponsor of terror which would put them in the company of NK, Iran, Syria. They expect about 90 votes in favor.

Only posts praising Zelensky, Ukraine, and even the Biden Administration are supported on this forum. And of course, hating Trump is a fixture as well.
I’ll admit this thread got a little circle jerky a while back. But the majority of the people that have posted in this thread still dislike or hate Biden. A large portion of Trump voters here too.

It would be even more expensive fighting an open war with Russia after they invaded the NATO Baltic states following their successful annexation of Ukraine.
I would also rather send aid to Ukraine than deal with the economic consequences of Russia controlling the mineral wealth and food generation of Ukraine.

Bingo. Especially the second part.
Putin saw Biden as a weak President, especially after the cluster frick that was the withdrawal from Afghanistan and took the opportunity to try and take Ukraine completely. That would have had MASSIVE repercussions globally.
But Putin misjudged not only Ukraine, but the Biden administration. As much as I dislike Biden, he actually has done a pretty good job with Ukraine, walking that fine line between backing Ukraine and not getting us involved in a larger conflict.

Cents I completely agree with this post, Biden in this one area has proven himself to be capable of delegating this important file and pushing Allies and fence sitters in the right direction. Call me old fashioned but a wartime president needs the confidence of the people. Again it’s limited in scope but he has my confidence.

I would agree with you that for this crisis, Biden has managed it well so far. I will give credit where credit is due. However, I still expect him to screw it up somehow, just like they have on everything else.

Biden has made a long career while repeatedly saying stupid stuff at the wrong time. So long as the Administration continues to allow the professionals to deliberate and plan the moves, we will continue to be ok.

This is right in the wheelhouse for Biden, Milley et al. All the old cold warrior gang dont trust the Russians.
Militarily the Russians went back to the front of the stove in 2014 so all of this has been planned and war gamed. Something like this:
"Ok staff the Russians just invaded Ukraine, I need 50 COAs to pitch to the boss by close of business tomorrow, go"

I don’t often post a reply with praise attached to it but honestly, this is a very thorough look at the present situation.

Ukraine NLAWS wiping out tank column in Donetsk
I am stunned at the lack of maneuvering by the tank crews in this video. They literally stay on the road and do nothing more than pop smoke. One simply KAMIKAZES straight ahead and get his turret flipped in the process
The missileers pick off the tanks one by one...
