Both plus they have a deep seated hatred of the US in general
A lot of them see it as the big bad Americans getting “an unfair advantage” at something they view as not American

I mean those people already HATE the US in general anyway. Quite a few of them were among those that wanted the WC to be a huge failure here
Lots of typical “no healthcare, school shooting, laughing stock, etc” comments they always love to throw out anytime the US comes up or even if no one asks

Uruguay produces about 99% of its electricity from renewables. Meanwhile in America everyone says we can't afford renewables.
It has 3.5M people with the majority of those people living in their biggest metropolitan area. Their country is 89th in total area.
It’s always stupid as frick when people try to compare small countries (in area and population) to the US when there’s multiple states here that have populations, land areas, and/or economies on par or far greater than almost all small countries
And that’s on top of the environmental/geographical challenges the poster above typed out

I remember when he made a post saying TLJ was well received outside the internet world. Meanwhile Interstellar was the divisive one between the two
He just makes shite up for the sake of being a contrarian sometimes
I will say this board is entertaining as it’s usually the same 10-15 posters arguing back and forth on everything. Certain predicable characters on every long thread

Ah our daily hate cop thread. Place is becoming worse than reddit.
The avg Redditer would consider this site extremely pro cop and stormfront 2.0. Not that either is remotely true but always funny when people try to compare this place to Reddit which is another level entirely of craziness

What?
If anything Alabama gets most of the hate directed towards southern states from non-southerners

I think it's a very specific problem that could be solved if about 2.5% of the population stopped shooting each other.
That’s what I meant when I said this “To what extent it’s an issue and how to deal with it greatly varies.”
Some think it as a major problem encompassing the whole country and want severe gun control. While others see that it is more confined to certain areas and groups but it’s still a problem in those areas

Europe has over twice the population of the US and they are significantly older.
If you want to make it more comparable and look at just the Western and Central European nations, they have almost an identical population to the US (around 360M people). This also excludes the eastern and especially northern parts of Europe which are colder on average and places which it is completely justifiable to not have an AC unit. Obviously depends on the year but deaths attributed to heat in W/C Europe are somewhat comparable to gun deaths in the US
quote:
Should add that throwing gun deaths into it just doesn’t make any sense. The two aren’t related.
People bring it up all the time because most people agree that gun violence is a problem here. To what extent it’s an issue and how to deal with it greatly varies. In addition plenty of Europeans love to bring up gun violence in the US.
Meanwhile despite all the issues with heat waves in many summers in W/C Europe there doesn’t seem to have been enough of push to have AC units. It’s basically deaths by different causes yet one is always brought up as needing solutions and the other not as much
Absolutely crazy if true. You’re a millionaire and still want to throw it all away to do something like this is baffling

Remember NFL Europe in the 90s? What were the team names? They were a city and a nickname like American teams. They “copied” American teams.
That’s exactly my point. They should’ve mimicked the soccer teams over there not Americanized it since it was taking place in Europe not America
If you’re trying to spread something for marketing purposes it makes more sense to copy the region’s established culture not bring over traditions that are completely foreign

American names are kind of terrible. A city name with a bird after it? Yeah, so cool. Atlanta United is a much better name than Hawks or Falcons.
It makes little sense to not try to Americanize the sport if you’re trying to spread it. Everything these American soccer teams and their fans do is just copying Europeans. Why not try to mimic the already widespread and obsessive sports culture in the US instead of making it clearly a foreign thing?
The people who already like the MLS will continue to watch it regardless and there’s a chance you could slowly attract new fans by making it feel more relatable

Obviously you haven't dealt with adolescent boys in a group situation.
The vast majority of this site is male and thus at one point were adolescent boys in group situations at times. Many here also have kids, some of which are the same age. You definitely didn’t think that through before posting
The reality is the vast majority of kids that age are not going around attacking much less murdering someone because they disagree. It’s completely reasonable and normal to expect even kids to turn away if being told to by even another kid without resorting to violence. At most you might get some expletives thrown your way.
You’re literally victim blaming

It’s pretty similar to the group of Asians that were fighting against Harvard for discrimination in admissions. Just look up MCAT scores by race. Asians have the highest avg MCAT score and GPA yet have lower acceptance % compared to other “POC”. And like I said, in the US on any official document Indians are grouped into the large category that is Asian. Sometimes there’ll be a subgroup under Asian for specific kind but most of the time it’s just Asian
Asians are grouped into POC when it’s suitable but other times are treated like white when it’s not suitable
