It’s like they’ve had no training at all.

I saw this yesterday, but it was attributed to Artillery strikes and not ATGMs.

Ukraine has laser-guided artillery rounds, the drone loiters above lasing the target, and BOOM goes the dynamite!

I bet Russia doesnt have any of those. There was a Pentagon bit a couple of days ago that said the Russian guided munitions were shite.

I see it comes in NATO friendly 155mm as well.

It would be even more expensive fighting an open war with Russia after they invaded the NATO Baltic states following their successful annexation of Ukraine.

I would also rather send aid to Ukraine than deal with the economic consequences of Russia controlling the mineral wealth and food generation of Ukraine.

agreed and agree with the comment about this being the best ROI in a long time

but 40billion is still 40 billion at a time of extreme inflation and government spending.

i still support the actions, 40 billion in new spending still makes me nervous.

Bingo. Especially the second part.

Putin saw Biden as a weak President, especially after the cluster frick that was the withdrawal from Afghanistan and took the opportunity to try and take Ukraine completely. That would have had MASSIVE repercussions globally.

But Putin misjudged not only Ukraine, but the Biden administration. As much as I dislike Biden, he actually has done a pretty good job with Ukraine, walking that fine line between backing Ukraine and not getting us involved in a larger conflict.

i alos agree with this 100% and FTR i wasnt saying we shouldnt have done what we have done.

Maybe its the libertarian in me but 40 billion still makes me nervous

it has been a good investment so far though and the fall of putin and russia would get China serious heartburn about Taiwan and so this already has a potential for huge ROI....but 40 billion is still 40 billion

If it makes you feel any better, with inflation, 40 billion is only worth 30 billion, so it's like we're saving money. (or something like that)

#Ukraine: A Russian tank lost it's turret outside Mariupol on May 6th.

According to the original source (Chinese Phoenix Television), it was a T-72B3 & was taken out 6km from the “humanitarian corridor” in the city. Quite curious that area was still harassed by UA forces.

Old data, but interesting that Ukraine was able to still hit a target that deep into controlled area

There is no way Russia can sustain these type losses.

This incident alone rendered a BTG combat ineffective. More than likely, a minimum of several hundred Russians were killed here.

People thought the same thing about the administrations in the first days of the world wars, Vietnam, etc.
Oh great we are giving aid with out being directly involved.
Oh wait things escalated, well we kind of already stuck our foot in our mouths so I guess we better jump in with both feet.
I mean its not like a lot of our young men are going to die.
Oh wait the use of our highly advanced weapons did not work. Oh well I guess we are going to have to send in the troops.
Oh Mrs. Jones I am so sorry your son got his head blown off half way around the world for nothing. But my friends in the defense industry made a nice piece of change.
See it was all worth it.
Your son died for such a worthy cause. Hers a 12 dollar flag to put on his coffin.

How about not fricking getting involved everywhere.
I love our country as much as anyone else here, but frick MAN why is it a constant cycle of death with everyone. Ever thought about why people get weary of war, but never weary of times of peace?

99.99% of the time i would be with you on this, but....we are at a very critical stage with Russia and China and being able to defeat russia without firing a shot or losing a single US soldier will have an almost unlimited ROI.

And that doesn't change the fact they're not working worth a shite. Or not using them or using them correctly.

But what do you expect from a military that sends armored columns in without infantry screens?

In fairness knocking down a wall in 1989 was the most expensive demo project in the history of man.

It is like adding extra insulation when you build a house, it seems expensive at the time and many forgo it but the long-term savings are very real.

It is always a critical stage. Has been with the soviets for 75 years, then its with the Taliban, then Saddam, then Gaddafi, then Noriega, then the Vietcong, North Koreans, Cubans, Germans, Spanish, Mexicans, Japanese, Philippines'.
The boogie mans going to get us. Not many of those people ever attacked us.
