That's the kind that make me giggle, "I can whoop his arse because I'm much bigger."

Sure there are exceptions, but there are weight classes in combat sports for a reason.

You're right, but both are trained in combat sports. Strength and power is real, but bjj can be an equalizer.

Is this where we are comparing our ranks and years trained? I am more impressed with who tied your belt around ur waist than I am with what belt you are. Point being, we got some Blue Belts that would absolutely destroy most Purples at other schools.

You're right about that. I know some 17yo athletic blue belts that have trained since they were 8yo that would destroy most purple belts at any school. I'm more of an old man smash from the top kind of guy than a flying armbar type.
Jonah is putting off big 3-stripe white belt energy with his comments. Upper belts don't run their mouths like that.

No, I was just curious since he posts about it a lot. If you are comparing yourself to others and making a big deal about it, you are missing the point of it all. I've been training 5 years and just got moved to to purple. But at 48, I have no ambitions to be a world champ, just be able to handle myself in situations and learn more.

Most people on the Low-T Lounge would lose a fight to Jonah HIll

So true. You will get humbled quickly by a 15 year old that just got his Blue Belt but has been training since his mom was dropping him off for kiddo jits for the hour long day care since he was 5. What's even worse is the ones that wrestle in high school. Kids are dangerous these days. I am probably a lot like you. I am built like a brick shite house and have seen just about everything so as long as I don't give away something stupid, I very rarely get tapped.

Damn son, you must think Navy Seals are the biggest pussies on the planet
Just the opposite from my experience of the two former Seals I've known in my lifetime.
They were very humble men with one being so easy going I didn't even know he was a former Seal until someone else told me he was.
Secure guys who know what they can be capable of don't make sure everyone knows it, and that works to their advantage when someone tests them.

I thought that was where we were going here so cool, we are on the same page. Congrats on getting Purple. Big milestone. I think it took me about 6 to get my Purple but I did a lot of No Gi initially and did the old Blue Belt quit showing up to class so much for about a year.

If that big mfer is untrained, I'd feel confident I could defend myself and eventually get in dominant position to ground and pound or submit him.
Why not just learn how to shoot a gun? Or use pepper spray? Serious question. And how much of that works when the 6'4" guy has a knife?
I always did sports instead of martial arts, butdefinitely thought it was cool for those who trained. I know most people (me included) would lose a hand to hand fight so I focused on learning to aim & fire lol

Just because one drops weight and works out doesn’t mean it’s easy to ever escape the self image from before.
Damned near impossible.

Alright, who do you have coming out on top with this actors bjj bracket?
Mario Lopez
Mark-Paul Gosselaar
Ashton Kucher
Tom Hardy
Ed O'Neill
Jonah Hill
Keanu Reeves
Russell Brand
I definitely have Jonah getting tapped in the first round.
