Now instead of $5 bread you're paying $8 for local bread or $10 for foreign bread. Is that winning?

As others have pointed out, it quickly gets far more complex than this example. That's why the tariffs seem to be a difficult topic, there is so much nuance missed on message boards & social media discussions.

-You could substitute beans/rice for bread
-You could pocket the $5 and spend it on something else in YOUR town
-You could decide you're pissed at the price and learn to bake your own bread
-Town B could be too far away for the travel to make sense
-Town B's bread is cheap but it sucks
-Town B could be getting that price from slave labor/shitty environmental regulation (maybe town A is too expensive because they have too MUCH regulation also)

I could go on forever but there are loads of individual factors going into these decisions beyond
"price A > price B buy cheap product"

There will always be Grinches...I'm fine with people choosing to be miserable together, but if they are going to ram their version of a holiday down everyone's throats then we should clearly get to ram our version right back down their throats too.

Merry Christmas not Xmas not Kwanzaa not sorry

Since paid protesting is such a big thing now, could they just set up another "protest" that gently pushes these guys over a few blocks??

Why do you think it is? Arbitrary.

Insurance has nothing to do with medicine. Totally different.

Because, as I've stated several times, it's a massive financial part of the medical system. Saying it's separate is like saying Fannie Mae is separate from the housing system. You really have to stretch imo.

In theory, perhaps it should have nothing to do with medicine. In practice, a lot of your medical treatment is going to be guided by insurance requirements. The doctors want to get paid too and that doesn't happen from denied claims rolling into self pay

Expand on your point, tell my why. Help educate me and everyone reading your comment. I'm serious.

Commercial & Governmental insirance programs make up the vast amount of funding in health systems. Your doctor's salary isn't coming from self pay patients. The money to buy equipment isn't coming from self pay patients. And the health system is going to try a lot harder to collect from insurance, because they're more likely to pay & more likely to pay larger amounts.

Again, you are free to explain why you think insurance shouldn't be so embedded in the system, but I don't understand how you can think the entire funding part of the system somehow isn't part of the system :dunno:
Hell yeah. Just listened at work & now these spreadsheets won't know what hit 'em :pimp:

Insurance, Payment and the "Affordable Care Act" are not the health care system.

Why not? It's fine to explain why you don't think it should be there, but it's a firmly integrated part of the Healthcare system at this point whether we like it or not

The new plan, which will see residents’ 64-gallon trash bins collected half as frequently,

I see the problem, collecting half as often just means those trashcan will be twice as full. And now trash bags will be all over the streets since they don't fit in the trashcan anymore. So it'll take even longer to collect.

BTW, are they cutting the labor force in half??

Nothing you described other than the doctor visit is the health care system.

Other than getting a prescription. Other than talking to health insurance.
Other than getting your claims paid aka paying the Healthcare providers for providing Healthcare services

It's all the Healthcare system mate  take a lap

the fact that there are master's-level programs for nursing and nurse practitioners, they will be subject to loan caps for non-professional degrees, which are significantly lower.

Are the NP/Midlevel programs also included or are they separate from the RN/LPN programs?? I have a few teacher friends complaining about the same thing, but imo it makes sense why a bachelor's level job like an RN or an average public school teacher wouldn't be included.

The article mentions a total limit of $65k, that's more than enough to cover 4 years of nursing school tuition (if you want a BSN from a private school that's on you) and have you seen these programs recently?? There are so many work study programs, live & work programs, CNA training etc. for nurses...if you are serious about the field you will easily find everything you need to be successful.

I've always thought this would be the ultimate trick play. Act like you're just running out the clock before half, and throw a strike to a wide open receiver for the score.

I'm surprised to see this comment. I know SELA is a little more humid/rainy but there are loads of 15ft pomegranates with fruit here in SW Georgia. Not sure the variety but they're in several yards in my neighborhood
