Somewhere on a Tokyo construction site, a worker in soaked coveralls steps into a steel booth the size of a drink dispenser.
Five minutes later, that worker walks out cooled down and functional. The Do Hiemon Box — developed by refrigeration and vending machine maker SDRS, sold by industrial supplier Trusco Nakayama, and on sale in Japan since April — holds its interior at 15°C while blasting 5°C air at your head, neck, shoulders, and back.
Weighs 293kg, rolls on casters, and needs zero installation — just an outlet
Three airflow settings for user control
An automatic 20-minute shut-off to prevent overcooling
Running costs around 16 yen per hour, reportedly half what a comparable spot air conditioner pulls, according to manufacturer data shared via IPROS
At approximately US$9,300 a unit
Get a few of those over to Paris and you could make money

Wait til the lock fails and the 20 min shutoff fails too

Workers in extreme heat like roofers know it’s better to cool down gradually rather than walking straight into AC and risking passing out. Wonder if this takes into effect the rapid cardiovascular reset.

I’d like one in my bedroom with a tiny little mattress in it.

My wife no pics has a crazy wa led out autoimmune system. She falls out in any heat whatsoever. I find her in the beer cooler at the local curb market just sitting in a chair about 3 days a week in the summer.
We just laugh about it now. Nothing you can do.
If these hit the states, I’m getting one.

Saw the orange garbage can in the back and for a second thought they were advertising this at HD.

i used to build wal-marks in my yoot. once the refrigerators were installed and running, going in there after a weekend of drinking and being sunburnt were the best thing ever....

When we worked at the airport, the out of town construction managers were so worried about workers overheating, they brought in refrigerated trucks that the guys could sit in if they felt too hot.
I don't think I ever saw a single person use those trucks.

LSU already had one.
LSU has been on the forefront of cooling down bodies. Got built-in fans in the football helmets too. Now that product is available for construction hardhats and other applications.

Make it into a "sleep pod" configuration and I'm figuring out ordering and delivery instructions, baws.

You know you can build a walk-in cooler at home right? If we have one at our deer camp built out of plywood and styrofoam insulation, you can do that too.

If it’s running they better go catch it.

Interesting. The complaint about the longer halftime for World Cup was because the players would cool down too much.
