What would we consider Texarkana?

The north eastern city of the south west?

Probably the most definitive answer: LINK

The Texas Hill Country can be considered the border between the American Southeast and Southwest.

Wow never would have thought so many of the OT to not understand Texas. Seems some of you that live there don’t even understand your own state as well as I do, someone from outside the state. It’s an undeniable fact Texas is southern
It's like asking someone from Russia, "are you European or Asian?" You'll get a stare and then they'll say "Neither, I'm Russian".

Texas is it's own animal. Don't live there but love the place and it's in my 3year plan.

To gain a good understanding of why Texas is unique, you have to understand the history. Read this: Lone Star: A History Of Texas and Texans
Once you've read this, you'll realize why it doesn't fit into any one category.

Its a little Southern, a little Western, a little Mexico, and now a little California in parts.

Texas is western… BUT i have always though that Houston has more elements of Louisiana and the South than Shreveport does- even though Shreveport is actually *in* Louisiana .. Living in Houston for a while, i attended more crawfish boils than i ever did in La.. and there are far more LSU fans in the Houston metro than there are even in New Orleans (not per capita, but more total).. i think a straight up trade of Shreveport for Houston would make sense, though of course Texas would never agree to it .

Tejas is some of both, so anybody can argue either side.

The real Dinglebears are the ones who call Ohio the Midwest.I expect at least three dvq's to dv this post, with a few more following later. They cannot read a map, but love the cock.

East Texas until Houston is as shitty as most Southern States. Like Beaumont would fit perfectly in ghetto arse Louisiana.

Houston is it's own animal. Definitely not western or Southern. International City.

San Antonio starts to get more of a SW Flair. Once you get west of the Hill Country, the sky opens up and the West begins. South of San Antonio is more like an extension of Northern Mexico. North of Dallas is the Great Plains all the way to Canada.

Very unique state and I like it all minus the East and Far South.

North Mexico if you live in Houston, or San Antonio. The rest is western.

Neither. It's an extension of Mexico.
