East Texas to DFW and draw a line south and anything east of there to the Arkansas/Louisiana lines and the coast is definitely southern.
Anything west of there is SW/Plains.
Anything west of there is SW/Plains.

Pittsburgh/Western PA is where the Midwest begins(my entire family is from Western PA), and Pittsburgh is only 50 miles from the Ohio line.
You can actually make a case that SE Ohio from say Zanesville to the WV line is borderline Southern. It is definitely part of Appalachia, as is all of Western PA.

Naming something wrong, then calling it that for 100 years, does not make it correct.
