To me it’s clearly southern and only commie f@gs from California who move there try to claim it’s western. What says the OT?

Wow never would have thought so many of the OT to not understand Texas. Seems some of you that live there don’t even understand your own state as well as I do, someone from outside the state. It’s an undeniable fact Texas is southern and the question was actually rhetorical. Just ask the question, do Texans act more like people from the gulf like Mississippi, alabama, Louisiana or like hippies from California?

"Is Texas southern or western?"

Yes! It's a very big state with I-10 stretching roughly 900 miles across the state. It's a bit of both.

Outside of deep East Texas, it's Southwestern.

West Texas is Western, as is some of the panhandle.

Houston is more southern, and East Texas is definitely southern.

Dallas is the midwest, as far as I'm concerned.

Isn’t I-35 the dividing line between West Texas and Coastal/East Texas?

I know the weather is a lot different west of I-35 than east of it.

The saying used to be if the county courthouse had a Confederate statue in front of it, it was southern. If it didn't, it was western. Once you get out past Fort Worth the accent is more midwestern than southern. IDK about south and southwest Texas, I haven't spent much time there.
