Maybe it’s just JPSO. Either way, all of the municipalities with their own police force (Gretna, Kenner, Westwego, Harahan and Jean Lafitte) haven’t had any homicides so that number should be the same parish wide.

6 homicides in St. John Parish (40k people) vs 4 in JP (430k people). Katrina really did a number on Laplace.

Numbers are for city only. EBR Parish is at 59 homicides so far this year.

43 in Baton Rouge versus 38 in New Orleans. BR has 150k less people than Nola. If it wasn’t for Jackson, BR could be the murder capital this year.

The best of Mississippi (MS Gulf Coast) is better than the best of Louisiana (Northsore)

The worst of Mississippi (MS Delta) is worse than the worst of Louisiana (Nola East)

Jackson, MS is much worse than New Orleans or Baton Rouge.

Slight edge for Mississippi being worse because Jackson is the worst city in the country.

It’s a suburban county south of Atlanta. It was 90% White in the 1980 census. Today, it’s 8% White and 69% Black. Talk about a hell of a change.

There aren’t any decent entry level jobs in New Orleans so every college graduate leaves to Texas or Atlanta. Some come back when they’re further in their careers to take senior level positions here.
