My county courthouse in Oklahoma still has a Confederate Soldier memorial and Oklahoma didn't become a state until 1907.
And it's sure as shite not southern. To me, southern states have a higher percentage of African American population. All southern states have been heavily influenced by blacks over the centuries.
Texas fits western way more than southern.

Southern, especially since all of the metros are in the East of the state. And the people are generally nice.
