I saw a little snippet of it yesterday and it's weird as hell. The cops were basically telling them this is the type of stuff that gets frats shut down and all they could say was basically "it doesn't matter cause house daddy."

To avoid self-incrimination?

The ones in the basement probably thought the cops were fake and it was a setup to get them to move or talk. They thought they would lose their bid if they didn't stay where they were.

But honestly, I don't see what's illegal about it. Weird AF, sure. But no one looks to be in imminent physical danger, they probably could leave at the risk of being kicked out, and there was no fire. I'm not a frat baw by any means, but this is a nothingburger.

Goes to show...

How belonging is powerful.

Not sure which is more pathetic. Wannabees valuing belonging to a fraternity that much higher than their own dignity or the sad sacs abusing their 5 minutes of power in life.

All parents involved need some mirrors. And quick.

After returning from Vietnam, my plan was to work 6 Months save money so I could concentrate on Studies.
I was asked if I would join a Fraternity………….my response was swift and to the point…….No. because I would frick someone up if they did the horrible things to me. Crazy or killers instinct still in me??????

It's certainly OK to think hazing is idiotic, because it is. But I never understood the legal aspect. If adults choose to go through humiliation rituals, why should they not be allowed?

What if they held college athletics to the same “hazing” standards, it’s a felony for everyone else, but make an athlete run stairs until they puke is different.

I don't see any of them wearing their pledge pins. Might be something we need to address when the cops leave eh?

Sounds like their voices are all fricked up from yelling at the pledges

That was my takeaway.

more proof that frats are gay

Yup. Locking a bunch of half naked blind folded dudes in your basement is about as gay as it gets.

The two dudes not cooperating with the cops are prob pissed the orgy that was getting ready to start got busted.

I for one think that it is a rush to judgement. Prosecution denied.

The actives not ordering an evacuation with a fire alarm going off is going to cause a serious investigation. They need to watch the video of the mass casualty fire at that nightclub in Rhode Island.

How is getting the house dad (whatever the hell that is) on the phone to talk to the police self-incriminating?

Sounds like Jr is just a spoiled brat whose parents prob never told him no.

Very well trained pledges.

I get that, but usually you put in an action or word that stops the hazing. It wouldn't be that hard for Jose to go the basement and say, event is over. Return to normal. Cops will be here soon. Don't say shite. Or go back your dorms/come back at 8am. Whatever, but there clearly was not an actual leader at the house managing the crisis very well. This could have all been avoided with some real leadership.

My guess would be one of the pledges couldn't handle the hazing and pulled the alarm as a bailout.
