Honestly, the best gifts were all of the family and friends who were able to share their time with us. 20 years later, and too many of them aren't here anymore to spend time with.

If I had to tie it to a "thing" though, my parents funded a bigger event than we could have afforded on our own, and my aunt baked us a great wedding cake.

I don't remember most of the sh*t I got. The best part of it was that friends/family showed up. Some of them traveled a long arse way. A buddy that I hadn't seen in 5 years flew in from Alaska after telling me he wasn't going to be able to make it. Hell of a surprise.

The one before this one she had "simply the best" played as we were walking up the aisle on the 18th hole of the TPC. And the glass decanter with those words engraved is on my bar, still.

Now THIS is trashy.

For mine, we just registered our china set. Not using my wedding to get normal everyday household items.

How about a nice bottle of champagne (Dom or similar) with their names and wedding date engraved on it?

Get him the exact same gift you got him the first time. He probably won't notice, but it will be funny for you.

I wasn't carrying the decanter.

The gift was later.

I believe he is saying hsi friend did him a solid and watched his cat so he can enjoy his honeymoon. Otherwise, he would have had to make arrangements for pet care and that can be pricey

I did marry a man and going on forty years later we are still happily married.

You do realize some of us have friends who are women and other friends who are men.

eta: I guess I need to add that I am a woman, have always been a woman, and the only surgery I've ever had was removal of two wisdom teeth.

Kitchen knife set is the most memorable........probably the only one I remember.

Plenty of people got us plates, place settings, forks, etc but I have no idea who bought each one......but I know exactly who bought the knife set.

So that's what we always pick to buy if someone is registered for one.

cutting board

I got married 43 years ago, and a marble cutting board was my favorite gift. It had a matching rolling pin, and it lasted about 35 years. Loved it..

My brother in law's dad was an artist.

As a wedding present he hand drew a portrait of me and my wife and had it put in a nice frame.

Probably my favorite gift we received other than the bread maker.

Engraved wine bucket + nice bottle of champagne.

Doormat (from Frontgate) with their last name on it.

Nice carry-on bag or items for travel

When I was working in Europe, I’d buy a bottle of Dom Perignon and a set of Waterford crystal champagne wedding glasses. Everyone loved it.

The most memorable gift that we received was a nice, decorative “chest” and inside the chest was 6 bottles of wine with personalized labels. Each label had our name, wedding date, and a future special occasion/milestone (such as “first anniversary,” “first big purchase,” “first baby,” etc). We received 6 bottles and enjoyed popping a bottle of wine for each corresponding milestone. It was a thoughtful gift and we still have the chest on display in our home
