re: Sterlington PD annouces they’ll give citations for non-4×4 vehicles stuck on icy roads

Cars stuck and blocking lanes and causing lines of traffic. It’s causing issues for emergency vehicles and Entergy trucks. It’s so damn frustrating. I have some neighbors out with a tractor trying to clear limbs off of our road, and they are currently working around an abandoned car. We saw the car get stuck, and by the time we got to it to offer help, the driver had walked away on foot. People have lost all common sense up here

Same here. Trees and limbs falling constantly. It sounds like fireworks popping in the woods around us

It was DUMPING sleet earlier. I’m just grateful it was sleeting for hours before the rain started. It allowed us to have a few more hours of power before trees started snapping like toothpicks

Damn, glad y’all are okay!
I agree, these measurements are way off. We probably have 5 or 6 inches of sleet on the ground right now. “Second wave” is coming soon…

Checking in again from N Monroe! Power went out around 2. Ground was covered with sleet, then topped with ice. When I walk outside, all I can hear is trees snapping and falling down. Fortunately, we have no trees that can fall onto our house, but Lord knows when the power will be restored. We knew it would be bad, so we are very prepared. I’m afraid the same can’t be said for many people in the community. I’m from south La so I’m used to being without power for a while (thanks to hurricanes) but I think many people up here are truly clueless about how to survive on generators for days on end (and I’m being hopeful when I say “days”). I know families that currently have trees on their homes, and some that lost power this morning and don’t have fireplaces and/or generators.
It’s an icy, slippery mess outside and more is en route. Please say some prayers for all of us up north, especially those who didn’t have the means to properly prepare.

Checking in from north Monroe. Precipitation started heavily falling about an hour ago. Looks to be mostly sleet vs frozen rain if I'm not mistaken, and it's accumulating.
I haven't had time to catch up on the thread...This should be a good sign, correct? Should we still be expecting large amounts of freezing rain ? Trying to remain hopeful lol

re: Dog food help

I have a lab mix with a sensitive stomach. First, I'd suggest buying food without chicken as the main protien. A few different vets told me that many dogs with skin/stomach issues have a chicken allergy.
My dog ate Purina (salmon flavor) most of her life. She seemed to like it, but probably had a stomach ache once or twice a week. It didn't impact her quality of life - I'd just give her a pepcid (per the vet's recommendation). I figured her stomach aches were due to eating crumbs she'd find from our kids dropping food.
When my older dog was diagnosed with cancer, I started cooking homemade dog food because he had a poor appetite. The change in my lab-mix was almost immediate. Her stomach aches are now few and far between, and even when she does have an upset stomach now, it as not "as bad" as before. I truly think the kibble was causing the majority of her issues.
I make a large pot of food about every two weeks. I use the cheapest ground turkey, frozen vegetables, frozen blueberries, and rice. She eats it up in record speed. Her coat is beautiful, she no longer licks the pads of her feet, and her energy is back to puppy-level, even though she is a senior dog.
Good luck to you and your pup!

Beautiful dog. I’m so sorry for your loss.
We had to put our good boy down last August. Can’t believe it has almost been a year without him. We still miss him terribly and talk about him every single day

I’ll never forget when all of this went down. I think of it often and pray for you and your family. Truly can’t imagine

Praying for your daughter and for your family.
I’ve followed Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy for a while now (on social media) and she is part of the Integrative Oncology Program in Irvine, California. She combines both traditional and holistic methods for cancer treatment and focuses on finding the root cause. I know someone in north LA who is currently under her care and has had great results. Good luck to you all

Take pics of the car before you drive it off the lot. Also make note if it smells like smoke or has any interior damage.
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been billed for damage that I didn’t cause. Learned my lesson one time and now I always have pictures to refute their claims

Give the glucosamine a few weeks and it should make a difference. The supplement that helped my dog was high dose glucosamine, fish oils and maybe turmeric? (Among other things)
We tried a few different brands for our pup but the one that worked the best was the “Dr. Joseph's VetPro Complete Dog Hip and Joint Supplement”

Didn’t read much on the topic - are these male and female? If they breed, I’m interested to see if motherly instincts kick in. Will the mother know how to nurture and care for a baby wolf since the mother was created in a laboratory?

Nothing here in Monroe yet but radar has us covered with 55% chance of snow until 11pm. It came out of nowhere, I’ve been refreshing my weather apps all day and was surprised to just see it.
