You might consider learning how to use a comma before ranting about university academic standards.

I know we all celebrated with the announcement that they were gonna re-implement respectable requirements to attend

quote:100%. There has to be a way to measure everyone's ability equally. GPA is irrelevant now with students graduating with ridiculous numbers. Standardized tests are the only way.
But now there’s all the grade inflation where almost everybody gets an A in most classes, so it’s hard to distinguish students from each other without looking at standardized test scores.

My daughter is 3 and will likely never step foot on LSU’s campus.
Wasn’t a great school when I was there but now it’s just embarrassing.

quote:How can this be done properly when GPA is utterly useless? I don't care what grades a teacher gave a kid, does nothing to show how intelligent they are. The grading at schools now are a joke, I've seen it first hand. I don't see how test optional could be viable given these circumstances
Test optional is fine when done properly

Nope. She’s an Instathot “influencer”, if my memory serves me.

My nephew got his acceptance from LSU in March, his highest ACT score was a 17. His family talked him into not attending.

I thought I never would say this but right now I do consider Southeastern a better learning environment than LSU.
Surprised some of you are even sending kids to college with all the trade school recs here.

based on "holistic review"
Let me translate that for you – "holistic review" is simply code for racist and unconstitutional discrimination. they used to call it affirmative action. Then they called it diversity. Once courts had determined that those were all illegal and unconstitutional, they decided to now start calling it holistic review.
They just keep changing the name so that they can keep racially discriminating in an unconstitutional manner.
I guarantee you that no poor white or Asian kid with substandard ACT result is getting in through “holistic review.“

I am an LSU alum along with my wife. We are steering all of our kids away from LSU. Academically it’s a cesspool.
I think Rousse can fix it but he has to start breaking some eggs before it’s palatable enough.
Institute rigid ACT scores now. Start working to repair Tate’s damage. It’s gonna be an uphill climb but needs to get underway sooner than later.

LSU needs to shift its focus away from minorities. It’s becoming a larger, better known version of Southern.
Which hey, is fine, but we already have Southern.

Everyone else’s kid should go to trade school. My Paxton is going to medical school.

They will enforce requiring one, but the requirement has no teeth. Pushed the ones with inflated HS GPAs getting scholarships off to 2028 and then diluted it completely with no minimum and just being one attribute among many that the admissions council or whatever it’s called doing the holistic admissions can review as part of its decisions. At most it may provide a reporting opportunity to check GPAs versus scores for admissions and scholarships decisions.
If fall of 2026 (likely as most offers done before new guys) and fall of 2027 incoming freshman classes continue trend of whites being below 50% of the last 2 Fall incoming freshman classes what happens in 2028 will not matter as much as white undergraduates on campus will have dropped below 50% of the total undergraduate enrollees on campus.
