I know we all celebrated with the announcement that they were gonna re-implement respectable requirements to attend but I strongly believe it was just to shut us up.

First off, instead of immediately implementing the test score requirement for all applicants. They pushed it back to Summer 2028. That should tell you they are not serious about it.

And secondly, LSU still reserve the right to admit low test score students based on "holistic review" which is how a lot of the students who don't deserve to be at LSU will be at LSU.

I want to be wrong but I know how these liberals operate. For example, when Harvard Law ended DEI in 2023 it resulted in the lowest black 1L enrollment in its law school in decades. They figured out ways to discreetly re-implement DEI and now the black 1L enrollment is back near DEI levels.

LSU is about quantity and $$$ ... not quality. LSU can be about all three but I feel like the university and the state is cursed. I've watched this great state and university go further and further down hill as I've aged. I'm very pessimistic about the future of LSU and the once great state of Louisiana needless to say.

There are certain schools handing out A’s and magnet program acceptance like candy.

ACT is literally the only way to tell if they are intelligent.

I thought I never would say this but right now I do consider Southeastern a better learning environment than LSU.

I just read about the LSU freshman who was indicted on 2nd degree attempted murder charges for some gang banging activity. Like huh? LSU be letting anybody in nowadays.

I think test optional might have been an okay policy something like 20 years ago. But now there’s all the grade inflation where almost everybody gets an A in most classes, so it’s hard to distinguish students from each other without looking at standardized test scores.

Poor people deserve the same chance to go to LSU as white people.

Test optional is fine when done properly but it's being weaponized to artificially create diversity instead of awarding deserving students a spot at the state's top public university

Yeah but most of them drop out early or go home as much as they can. They don't like to hang out at SLU like they do at LSU.

LSU has become a trash magnet. Something I never seen before 2020

Having a high school senior that is graduating next week… I was stunned at the lack of academic scholarships LSU gives. It’s basically TOPS and a few free rides. Whereas the other state schools offer supplements to TOPS

I guess they would rather have students “paying” full rides via loans.

Like I said LSU needs the low achievers to supplement their budget. LSU doesn't know how increase its budget and endowment without admitting collegiate gang bangers and skrippers. Most of that athletics money go back into athletics.

That makes a little sense. Students may not have planned to take the ACT under the previous policy, though I think 2028 is too long.

Pretty sure this has been the policy for a very long time; they just didn't use "holistic". Instead, they used terms like "special skills" or "unique talent". That is the reason athletes always get in with lower scores. As long as it is a very small percentage, I don't think it's a big deal.
