Good for her and you. I can’t force my mother to do anything.

I took my mom for a medical procedure the other day and we had a flat tire in her car. While she was under I put a new tire on because "she would have to wait until payday".

So I know what I am getting when she dies. A funeral bill.

Do you call your wife a dude?

Doubtful.

Does everyone call you a trans?

Probably.

I inherited my mom’s house. Paid off my wife’s student loans and spent the rest on booze and blow.

I sold her house for about $80k.

Say $5,000 or more.

You do know you can spend more than that on a dinner?

About 25 years ago my wife inherited well into six figures, we have never touched it, just let my genius niece handle the investments. Our kids don't need it, so St. Jude Hospital is in for a nice boost one day.

We were blessed/cursed with frugal upbringings, so lifestyles didn't change much, I still work (self-employed), my wife retired after 30 years teaching.

I recommend people spend money doing what they like before it's too late. Adventure before dementia. So, don't be as frugal as we have been.

We're waiting on a 300k dispersement from the estate of my wife's aunt. The house sold fast but there's a lot of stocks to cash out.

We're going back and forth on using money to renovate our house or moving to a smaller house and selling our current one "as is". Also making sure the kids have a nice car and getting me the pickup truck I want (she drives a company car).

I got an oyster shucker knife when my Dad passed.

PS: “Well, my daddy left when I was three
Didn't leave much to my mom and me
Except this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze”
