Sometimes my dad tells me what his brokerage account is up to...my net worth will double when he and mama pass.

So no, nothing too significant.

I inherited about $50K worth of Exxon stock from my grandfather who worked there for 40 years.

Certainly not life-changing at the time. However, I just reinvested the dividends for the 20 years since I inherited it and now provides a couple of thousand bucks per month income stream for me. Combined with a couple of other income streams, this has allowed me to retire early.

What a special gift from my grandfather…..

I got to pay for both parents funerals with zero help from my brothers. I never bitched about it. My mom was living in a house I owned. When she passed my brother expected half of the house. I had to break it to him while he was globe trotting I had paid for her house and car and I actually owned the house and car. Problem was, he was worth a fortune to begin with.

My wife inherited about 750k worth of income producing real estate and about 100k in cash.

We wiped out all debt aside from home, went on a couple vacations, stuck the rest in an emergency fund, and have another source of income.

My siblings and I each got about $6000 when my dad passed away.

Had to pay like $2200 in taxes

So maybe that’s too low for this thread.

Speak for yourself Bill Gates!

An extra $50k in the bank now would turn into about $200k when I retired… enough to pay for 20 years worth of $10k vacation

When I was 37 I inherited about $86K from my two aunts who died two weeks apart. I was an owner in a business startup about three years earlier. The income from the business eventually made that meaningless, but it gave me a jump on cash flow that really helped at the time because while the business was making a lot of money, it wasn’t spinning off cash.

Then when mom died about 15 years later I got something similar, but I think we gave that away. We were cleaning up in business by that time. My wife’s mom died within months of my mom, and we just signed our share over to her brother.

My mom gave me a sealed envelope from my grandpa with the note "beginning to a fortune?"

had about $2.38 cents worth of coins and old school coin sleeves for the pennies, nickels, and dimes.

I’m just wondering how many are (like me) at zero when it comes to inherited wealth. That’s why I set it low. Probably could have phrased it better.

The wife and I inherited debt from both sides.

My wife did. Blew it all with nothing to show for and no lessons learned. Sore subject. Could be real ahead of the curve at this point in life.

Inherited 2.25% of 6,800 acres in the mid west, currently leased farm land. Been in our family for 200 years this year. Original deed was signed by John Adams, my great grandfather, and is hanging in our local family office.
