I inherited nothing. My in laws will probably leave a few million, doubt we get it, probably get split up between 5 grandkids.
I will be leaving my kids several million each. It’s the only reason we still have to work. I want them to pursue careers they actually love instead of chasing dollars.

I inherited a bunch of land but can’t do much with it, there’s some timber on it and we cut enough to pay the taxes annually.
It’s worth a good bit but has been in the family for years (100 or so), I’d feel and look like a jackass if I sold it.

My grandparents willed the sale of their house to me and 3 other grandchildren.
Contents of the house & everything else went to my Dad & Uncle.
It was a nice chunk of money & am thankful they were such amazing grandparents.

my wife did when her dad passed - allowed us to pay off all debt, and look to buy a house in Tx with some left over.
when my dad passed, my mom kept all of the money with the "excuse" that I would get all of it when she passes - but she turned into a narcissistic bitch that almost ruined my marriage, and hasn't spoken to me in almost a year - honestly i don't want anything from her when she passes.

I don't anticipate inheriting anything.
All of my grandparents have passed, and my two parents are about to be immobile, permanently, but they are of sound mind still.
My wife's grandfather is still holding on, but his mansion in Mobile is in ruins, so I doubt she gets much. He still has one child living as well (wife's aunt).
He has an art collection and other memorabilia worth multiple millions though.

Wife inherited land from her grandparents. Seven acres. Don't want to build on it because it's in the sticks and we can't sell it. I guess eventually we'll pass it down to our kids.

Not sure since my Dad is still running the family supermarket at 83. I planned to not have to rely on any. Not because my Dad won’t leave me and my siblings something, but because I didn’t want to have to depend on anyone but myself.

Significant should mean 100k or more. Anything less is not life changing.
Example 50k could pay for a car that could help with finances and work. But its not going to do much else. 100k could be used for an investment thats significant.

I got my FIL’s corvette shirt he wore and an old Yankees jersey from a long time ago
Nothing significant but meant a lot to me.

My wife and I have 4 paid for cars, but 50K would be a pretty significant sum. Could pay off a pretty big chunk of what's left on the house.

Are LSU football season tickets considered "significant?"
My family has been sitting in the same seats in the South Endzone since the 50's. My grandfather graduated from LSU in 1934 (have his diploma hanging in the house) and worked for LSU as a county agent and part of his salary package included the seats. My mom casually dropped in conversation one day that she was at the Halloween Night game when Cannon ran the punt back and was watching from those seats as an 18 year old - she'd enroll at LSU the following year.
They got passed down to my Mom in the 80's. They are now passed down to me. My kids are the 4th generation to squeeze their asses into those seats in 407.
Will inherit a significant amount of money to me (7 figures) but hopefully not anytime soon. Hope to be in a position that I can just sit it in the market and allow me to sit back and relax in my later years and hopefully pass it down to my kids (along with the aforementioned football tickets.)

Good luck, hope your kids are exceptional.

Based on family medical history, there's a good chance my mother outlives me, so I plan on inheriting nothing, and that's totally fine by me. It'll likely go to my kids, which makes me happy. Hopefully, they're not frick-ups when the time comes

pretty sure old baw and the rest of the board have different definitions of significant

Posted on 5/27/26 at 4:54 pm to RanchoLaPuerto
nope, folks did there best, kept us feed and healthy, spent a lot of time with us and loved us, that is better than money.

I didn’t inherit anything.
Unless I get scammed by much younger wife I will make sure that my kids inherit significant assets.
