How do you say soft drink.
This should be very regionally skewed just like what people call going to the movies in different parts of the country.

When I was young I called everything a coke.

I realize this thread has probably been done a million times but I'm bored so piss off.

A friend of mine went to boot camp in San Diego and came back saying soda. The one I hate the most is when people just say pop.

I think people calling all soft drinks a coke is a southern thing.

So far we have soda and coke. We are not that diverse.

re: How do you say soft drink.
When this subject came up before I posted how in the movie Cool Hand Luke the prisoners, instead of saying "coke" like Southerners should, say "Gimme a cold drink".

I suggested this was due to the producers not wanting to give Coke a free plug. However, somebody replied by claiming to be from a part of the South where saying "cold drink" for coke/soft drink is common.

I've spent my whole life n the South and I've never heard anybody ask for a "cold drink".

We said "pop" as kids. Encompassed all flavors. Grew up around Crowley.

You are not the correct pigmentation to utter that phrase.

Soda.

It is common in Texas to refer to all sodas as "cokes" but I personally don't because it can get confusing--and I greatly prefer Dr Pepper to Coke

ETA: and like someone said before the only one that sounds silly to me is "pop" It's mainly said that way in the north
