How do you (and bear apparently :lol:) like this stuff? I had never heard of it until a buddy told me about it late last year.

This was in Norwood, LA. So all of about 15 minutes from Centerville. First time I've ever seen one, in person or on camera.

I've heard a lot of people that like them, but my dad had really bad luck with them last year.

He shot a doe with a 30-06 that he said he knew buckled from the shot. We looked all over, never found blood or any signs and just teased him for missing.

A week later shot a nice buck with fusions quartering away. Saw the buck run across the power line with it's head in the dirt from a broken shoulder. Never found blood or any signs other than it dragging itself. Finally found the deer 45 minutes later still no blood.

During skinning it we learned that it clipped a bone and dumped all of it's energy and no part of the bullet made it passed the center of the deer's chest.

I'm sure he also killed the doe the week prior but the bullet probably did the same thing.

So now he has a $50 box of target ammo because he went and got something different that day.

I'm thinking this might be the problem. I got my gun at home and measured, and the scope eye relief sits about 1.5-2 inches further back on the stock than mine.

I'm fairly certain the scope that is on this gun is the scope that came on it when my dad bought it 20 years ago :lol:

I’m gonna get a suppressor on both guns at some point. Built myself a new hunting rifle and bought a turkey gun earlier this year so gotta build up the fun money account before suppressors

My wife is wanting to deer hunt a little more this year. She is a little recoil sensitive. My .308’s are a little more recoil than she’d prefer.

She likes shooting my .223 AR. I know that can work with the right ammo. What’s yalls thoughts on that?

The other option is a youth model .243 that I grew up shooting. I think that’s my best option. The biggest problem leads to my main question. It’s a youth model Harrington and Richardson with a length of pull of about 12.5 inches. She shot it once and it scoped her :dope: I can’t really blame her because I shot it a few times after that and it would clip me a little bit. You just can’t pull the gun far enough into your shoulder to get a good back stop since it’s so small.

The scope that came with the gun sits a little weird so I might try swapping around a different scope and see if I can add a bigger buffer. Maybe I can add a little scope mount that moves it further forward. If I can’t get that to work, is there anything that could fairly easily give a little better length of pull?

I could always just buy her something, but that’s not really in the budget right now and I don’t know how long her interest will last :lol:
