They should not take a stance in the fact checking. They should allow other users to respond and fact check.

There's already a rabbit hole there when people of influence can just post whatever the want, regardless of it's true or not. There's a WHOLE LOT of that going on right now, and it's coming from all different sides and angles.

Correct.
They're just trying to condition their members to be followers, not thinkers.
Fact checking is usually partisan regardless of who is doing it.

Yeah, I don't understand why someone who uses Twitter and reads a tweet can't be their own fact checker.
Like if I read a tweet that said there was no speed limits in my town as of today, I'd have to go and fact check that first before I go out and stomp the gas.
It seems the problem is lazy people who read anything and everything and take it as gospel. So Twitter is doing the research which in turn makes the lazy even more lazy.

I’m not comfortable with either side running/owning/managing a social media platform and fact checking those they don’t agree with. Fact checking is inevitability the first step to banning or muting those who you don’t agree with politically. And that fricking sucks.

You're encouraging oeople can to not think for themselves and to trust a single source as truth.
People (on both sides) believing false information isn't going to be fixed by fact checking, it just makes people more reliant on "authority" which may not have anyone's best interest.
