re: Tide Hoops | 31-6 (16-2)

Haven’t been on here in a while and figured I’d share my thoughts on the season and tonight.

1. Best Bama basketball team in my lifetime. Enjoyed the ride.

2. The better team won tonight. They were better prepared, controlled the game, got to more loose balls, etc. Highly disappointing to see how unprepared we looked from the start.

3. This team’s mental fortitude was impacted by the Miles incident. I even question if Miller was actually injured and wasn’t actually struggling mentally from all the stress. That’s a LOT on an 18 year old. At this point though it doesn’t matter.

4. Watched the game with a. Friend that refs high school games. He made an interesting comment on ref bias. Not bias towards one team or another, but towards their style of play. SDSU came into the game with a reputation for physical defense. His point was refs subconsciously give those teams the benefit of the doubt when it comes to foul calls. He was clear that he wasn’t blaming the loss on the refs, but mentioned that had it been called tighter early on, it might have been a different game. He thought the turning point of the game was when Sears got raked across the face on a rebound and no foul was called. I mostly thought the game was called fairly evenly.

5. Our guard play has been a strength all season, but has been spotty the past month or so. JQ has had some huge games, but he struggled tonight. Pretty sure over half of their blocks were on him. Sears had a decent game, but struggled again from beyond the arc. You have to have good guard play to win the NCAA tournament.

6. Gonna harp again on just how unprepared this team looked tonight. Maybe the stage was just too big for a young team. It didn’t look like a team that used the week tk scout their opponent. Our early 2nd half run was all athleticism and talent. SDSU took Oats and our staff to school on their counter run that sealed the game. That’s two Sweet 16 appearances for Oats where he’s been outclassed by the opposing coaching staff. UCLA was a hot team in 2021 so I’ll give him a pass there, but tonight was inexcusable. SDSU is a solid team but they should not have exerted their will on us like they did, and that’s on the coaches.

Fun season though. Hopefully we can regroup and get back here next year.

Scored 78,86 and 90 the past week while shooting poorly from 3. Yeah, "hurting."

Well, they didn’t shoot it well in their 4 losses so it’s a mixed bag. In one of those losses though they made up for it with other scoring and posted 90 points. Defense just couldn’t stop Gonzaga that day.

I don’t really have a point. This Bama team is pretty balanced and it takes a great offensive performance from their opponent, and a subpar performance from 3’s from Bama for them to lose.

One in one maybe but this sounded like a group thing. Hard pass for me. Lunch is my time.

Never met a hot Gladys, Myrtle or Agnes. Probably why no one names their kids those names nowadays.

Agnes is making a bit of a come back.
Y’all are break g up north matter which way you decide, so might as well hold firm and not go and save some money. She’ll leave you when she gets back. She may even leave you before the wedding and you don’t have to go to it. That’s best case scenario.

Lots of good hiking around there if that’s your thing. Whiteside Mountain is close to Cashiers. About a 2 mile loop with lots of overlooks. It can get crowded so we like doing it first thing in the morning.

Can’t help with golf. I’ve only played once up there at a private club. From what I’ve heard, all the courses there are short and tight.

Dining - Cashiers has Cornucopia that is good. For casual, there’s an Ugly Dog Pub and Slab Town Pizza. I found the brewery there to be a bit of a tourist trap. Mediocre beer and overpriced food. YMMV. Those are the only places I’ve eaten in Cashiers. Highlands has more restaurants. Lakeside in Highkands is our favorite for a nice dinner. Paoletti’s is also good.

Went to Terry Black’s a few weeks ago and line was about 30 minutes, partially in the sun.

The beef rib was outstanding. We barely touched the brisket we ordered because the rib was so good, but the brisket was also solid.
It’s one of the most uncomfortable situations for me. I usually start with number 2, but I don’t protest very vigorously.

I don’t know anything about Spanish Fort. What’s the draw?

Nothing really. It’s another boring exurb/suburb off the interstate with the expected hotel and dining options. Nothing wrong with that, but it didn’t really fit what you were looking for in your OP.
Who knew medical care and insurance for profit was a bad idea.
Most insurance companies require an alarm system in homes like that.
Bunch of TPOS kids raised without proper fathers.

Some of it I do, some I do not.

Mo got his arse handed to him. Good riddance.
What is it you think I’m defending? I didn’t even read her statement and don’t really give a shite what she said. I just enjoy the mere mention of her name on this board generates so much vitriol.

Every 16 year old in 1988 was a poser.

I turned 16 in 88. I didn’t get a car because we were somewhat poor. I listened to a lot of Motley Crue, Poison, Guns N Roses, while also still listening to the 80’s indie stuff - REM, The Cure, The Smiths, etc.

That summer was probably my favorite summer. Started working so had some spending money. Closest friends had cars and we did hood rat stuff all summer - drinking beer when we could get it, smoking terrible weed when we could get it, riding around being dumb teenagers.
