re: Flooring - Using Home Depot - The Spleen
I've used Home Depot for a couple of small projects. It's really store/city specific because they use local contractors to do the work. So it really depends on the quality of the people they use for installation, and from what I remember you don't really have much control over who is used. I'd p...

re: Anyone have a place they loved that they were told to skip? - The Spleen
I wasn't told to skip Paris, but I was told it was overrated. I loved Paris though. Also, both times we went to Disney, people told us to just do AK for 1/2 day. It was our favorite park both trips because it was one you could take in slowly and really appreciate. No rushing from ride to ride....

I grew up poor and can say Christmas sucked most years because Santa didn't bring me much while he brought friends really cool toys. ...

re: Peaky Blinders (Season 5) - The Spleen
I'm sure I'm in the minority, but this was probably my favorite season so far. It got really dark and had so many really intense scenes. Kinda frustrating it left so many unanswered questions though. ...

re: YouTube tv dvr is not user friendly - The Spleen
I'll add that sometimes you have to dig through the library to find the recording you want to watch. I agree it is clunky, and it's really my only gripe with YouTubeTV. DirecTVNow had pretty good DVR interface. ...

re: Is there a deeper reason that Thanksgiving has steadily been pushed to the background? - The Spleen
Thanksgiving in the United States was founded as a religious observation.
Not really. George Washington declared a day of Thanksgiving in 1789 in reverence to God, but it didn't become an official thing. It had no connection to any "harvest feast" or really anything like Thanksgi...

re: Is there a deeper reason that Thanksgiving has steadily been pushed to the background? - The Spleen
I was not aware that this was happening?
Yeah, Thanksgiving seems like a bigger holiday today than it was when I was a kid. My kids are out of school the whole week, while we only got Thursday and Friday. Some offices even close for the whole week. ...

re: Do you have someone in your office that everyone hates? - The Spleen
Not really, which is good because I work in a small office. I'm kind of the outcast though because I don't really like going to lunch with any of them, and I tend to keep to myself. I rarely even get asked if I want to join any of them for lunch because I've declined so many invites, which is fine w...

re: Do you know your neighbors? - The Spleen
For the most part, and most of them are just casual acquaintances. Daughter is good friends with the girl that lives behind us, and we've gotten to know her parents pretty well. And we just had people move in across the street and the dad is super chatty and always outside, so I talk to him pretty f...

re: Why is Tua so revered by Alabama fans? - The Spleen
He's a great quarterback, but Alabama didn't really capitalize on it apparently.
Not making excuses, but he had a couple of really unfortunate injuries at inopportune times. He was pulled in the SEC Championship because of an injury. He's missing the rest of this season because ...

re: Why is Tua so revered by Alabama fans? - The Spleen
Yeah, Tua's legend was built in sort of appearing out of nowhere in his first opportunity on a big stage and lighting it up there.
Tua played fairly significant minutes for a backup QB in 2017. It wasn't like the 2nd half of the National Championship game was the first action h...

re: Vegans: not ok for human to eat meat but ok for animals to eat meat? - The Spleen
The 2 vegans I know don't think it's wrong for humans to eat meat. They've just decided to not eat it themselves. One is pretty militant about the beef industry and the environmental damage it reportedly does, but he's not obnoxious about it. ...

re: Article: Warren Tax Plan Would Bring Rates Over 100% for Some - The Spleen
The market creates jobs, not some Thurston IV who is insanely wealthy because his granddaddy cornered the market on some product decades ago. I can't say I even support this tax plan, but I'm certainly not going to defend a bunch multi-millionaires and billionaires. ...

re: Alabama just played the SEC offense most similar to Auburn - The Spleen
It's not Auburn's offense I'm really worried about. I think we can hold them to <20 points. I am glad Najee has really come on strong the past two games though. We are going to desperately need solid production from him against AU. ...
