My evidence is living over 50 years in BR. It’s worse now than the 80s. Huge swaths of BR have turned to shite over the decades.
Neighborhoods that were safe are now shite holes.
Prosperous business streets now look like Plank road.
Lots more beggars and street addicts.
LSU campus proper more dangerous.
Tiger Town now Mogadishu.
Judge Parker single handily destroyed the EBR school system.
Some things have stayed the same but not many.
Huge impacts happened from Katrina and then the flood.
Take your statistics that all cities manipulate and shove them up your arse. It’s worse.

I predict in 15-20 years you will see white flight occurring in St. George at a pretty steady rate, much like it has in many parts of Baton Rouge in the last 50 year.

Is it really that bad now? Have a family member entering in August. BR:LSU folks so seems odd they’d allow it if this bad now.

There is at least one or two, if not more deadly shooting's that occur in the Bottom per month, which is right next to the Northgate's of LSU. Student housing around State St or Aster St is risky. Back in 2007, two PhD students from India were shot to death at the Edward Gay apartment complex.

Seemed like it was safer in the late 90’s early 2000’s but their was some paranoia when Derek Todd Lee and Sean Gillis were making the rounds though.

My daughter stayed in Kirby Smith by the north gate area. We didn’t know how bad it was. There were issues developing back then at LSU, but not like now. I’d never send my kids there these days

What destroyed the EBR school system was whitey fleeing it because they couldn’t stand the thought of their kids going to school with brown kids. 50+ years of white flight tends to hurt public schools.
Anyhow, if it’s so turrible here, you should move. Vermont is about 91% white. Prolly no crime up there.

Another change for the worse that happened overnight following Katrina was the traffic. It's been HORRIFIC ever since....People may call it a coincidence if they like- but it happened.

Same thing is going to happen if and when the St. George School opens. Once the demographics start creeping above 30% black, white flight will begin and steadily increase. To me it's very predictable.

I went to Belaire pre bussing. It was 70w/30b. Now what is it? It’s not brown people. It’s blacks and crime and their hate for whites.
ETA: and it’s not just hate. There’s an active motivation to frick with whites, provoke whites, and condemn whites.

Yes, population in the BR metro doubled, maybe tripled over night after the hurricane - but the population went back down.
I have no idea why the traffic is so bad almost 21 years later - but I don’t think Katrina is it

Now: 222,795
Population of BR metro before Katrina: 700,000-790,000
BR Metro Now: 880,000

Baton Rouge was already 40.76% black in 1980. (That's now increased to just over 50%.) It's probably doubtful that a city with those demographics was very safe.
With that being said, it might be even more unsafe now, especially since the black population has increased by 10%.
