1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition. Bought it in 2004 for $5000. It drove like a wooden carriage but was reliable.

1979 Volvo 242 Coupe for $400 in 1990, then dropped a used engine in for another $1000. Purred like a kitten until one of the May floods destroyed the transmission. Had it for 4 years then sold it for $500.

1998 Toyota Corolla
Was totalled with 120k miles on it. I gave $800 for it and my dad helped me fix it with parts from you pull it. About $1100 in it. I sold it 8 or 9 years later with 275k miles on it. Sold it for $900. The AC still worked. It had a slow oil leak. The guy I sold it to let it sit for a while and didn't check the oil when he started driving it again, burnt up the engine.

The first car I ever bought was in 1985, a Triumph TR8. I was 20 and going to college. Loved the car but it had issues...my friends nicknamed it the GTO...Get your Toolbox Out.
It was fast with a V8 in that little car. I paid $7000.00 for it.

I bought a '67 Mustang 390 GT/A at the end of 1982 for $3,100. It was the start of my love affair with cars and engines.

My folks bought my first few cars. First one I paid for myself was my '77 300D for about 5k. Love them so much that I have an '82 300TD wagon in the same color. Paid 9k for that one.

In 1992 I bought an 1981 Ford Courier. $800. Two tone shite brown. Coke tabs for knobs on the radio, two speakers behind the seats and the only thing holding the speakers in place was their magnets on the bare arse metal. Bad engine tick. Puffed pink smoke if you accelerated too hard. And I still kept armor all on them tires.

1954 Plymouth Plaza for $100. Bought it in 70 when I got out of high school.
It was a solid built car with real sheetmetal for body parts, had a flathead 6, three on a tree, 6 volt positive ground electrics, no A/C but a heater that could make you sweat in the winter, AM only radio and windows that would roll down in 2 cranks.
Wish I still had that old car.
