My wife works and usually earns about as much as me. She'd be fine with our combined savings if I kicked the bucket anytime soon. But I still have term life insurance in an amount twice our mortgage and other debt. The term runs out when I will likely retire and I'll likely drop it at that point.

Everyone needs to find a hobby in retirement though, right?
I fished with them all together. Happy to have that memory.
Blind date. My dad's buddy was dating my aunt, and they went on a double date.
Sure I would and I see the same issues in some of my older relatives, though not all. Some approach physical problems as something done to them that is unfair and is ruining their lives. Others accept their limitations, but still find joy and purpose in the things they can do. I am arrogant enough to think I am of the glass half full stock, and will not be bitter in my old age infirmity. But one never knows until you face it.
Dennis Quaid. I think because I have a similar shite eating grin.

Speaking of live music, should a first timer spend time hopping around music clubs on Frenchmen?

Absolutely. You can just wander down the street and choose a place based on the music that night.
That kid is going to leave the state immediately upon graduation.
20/20. Had to think about Sulphur but I did visit a plant there for work once. Rest are easy for anyone living in LA for any extended period of time.

Same thing. 2% off high from 3 weeks ago. Still up about 9% on the year. If I can get 4% growth the rest of the year I'll be happy, but my present position is where I conservatively hoped to be by end of 2026 so all is good.
Been twice in last 3 years, visiting the main 4 islands. Were in tourist spots but also in small more isolated towns and at local festivals. Met lots of locals, never any problem. Did see a handwritten sign at a beach warning tourists to stay out. We ignored it and had a great time. Think beach was 90% tourists, lol.
.
Going to GW Fins tonight. Great restaurant, though I don't often recommend it to tourists. I tnink because it feels like a restaurant that could be in L.A., Vegas, Miami etc.. But it would be a top choice in any of those places.
My salary, yes. Spouse makes about the same as me. We are not there yet for total household income, maybe in 5-7 years. That milestone will make me feel more secure about retirement.

This is sad.
In 1992 I was mugged at gunpoint on NYE outside a federal judge's house Uptown, guarded by 4 off duty NOPD. Cops shot at the fleeing robbers as they fled down the street. Caught them after a chase. I was the last of over 20 people they mugged that night. Still went out Uptown after that without fear, but I did move to Metairie for a while. 90s were bad.
Had little time and it was walking distance to my hotel so went to City Works. Great selection of local beers and fun place. Hoping my work successfully ends early tomorrow and I can hit up some breweries in the Strip area before heading to the airport.
Great idea for my last stop. Thanks

Downtown Pittsburgh breweries

I have about two hours tonight in downtown Pittsburgh and want to visit a few breweries. Beer quality trumps atmosphere. Thinking Helltown and Aslin. Any others that should bump those?
