re: How much did you pay for your 1st vehicle and in what year?

1990. Had hand me down cars before but this was the first I bought with my own money at 22. Bought a 1979 Volvo coupe with a blown engine for $400. Put a used engine in it and drove it for 4 years until the transmission died in a flood. Sold it for $500.

Lahaina in Hawaii has the exact same problem.
I was just there. Looked about 80% rebuilt for residential. Commercially, the town was popping. Spoke to some local residents who had rebuilt but there were many who had to sell bc not enough ins coverage to rebuild.
Contrarian view: romaine lettuce wraps. Nice crunch, lighter and more refreshing. More efficient use of your veggy.
Felt a brief tornado on the New Orleans lakefront north of City Park about 6am. Tossed around my porch furniture and blew some small branches down. Set off a neighbors house alarm. Not too bad though.
The NOLA restaurant market is not "bad" in the sense that there are no diners. It is hyper competitive though. Your food has to be extremely good to survive. 18 years for Coquette is a great run. Few restaurants survive that long, even good ones.
Robert Grocery in NOLA features them each season.

I have a folder in my office at work with investment info, life insurance, wills etc... My secretary knows where everything is. My wife and kids know to call her if my plane goes down. I'll need a new plan when I retire. Lol

HELOC is just easier, as I've had one for a while.

I basically already do this on a smaller scale with my HELOC. I could pay off the HELOC with invested assets but would have to pay taxes on them and lose future gains. Eventually I will pay off the HELOC either with normal income cash flow or selling of house.
I bet they all passed.
I tried USAA's similar program for a while but it ran off the phone so it activated even when you were a passenger in a car.
re: MSY Parking Question

I've only had trouble on holiday and other big travel weekends. That said, it sucks to drive to the parking near the airport and then find it full and have to drive over to the other lots ten minutes away then shuttle back. You can easily lose 45 minutes. I always reserve ahead.
When you go back to VA in the summer stop off in Lexington, VA. Gorgeous small town with Washington & Lee and VMI flanking the downtown area.
Lambeaux from Smoke & Honey was my favorite. Oxtail rice was also excellent. Always love the mushroom pie and it did not disappoint.

Same, except he and my grandfather had a few Miller High Life ponies in there too.
There are still so many old line neighborhood Creole Italian places in the metro area with devoted, though aging, clientele. I just don't see them pulling that much business away from established restaurants of that kind, even if they "modernize" the food.

I like to use leftover brisket.
Wife was supposed to go to book club tonight. I was looking forward to pizza dinner alone and a history documentary. But she felt ill today and cancelled her plans, so I will be getting her chicken soup instead. :banghead:
