Typical NOLA hate from the OP brings out the morons who don't read. This is a national story with regional implications. Not the other way around.
My Delta bill is a little over $200 every month.

Whoa this is what I give up! It's great for the reasons you said: it cuts out all non-"necessary" alcohol, encourages socialization, and should save money (depending on how social you get).

Agree. Hardest part for me is giving up that end of the work day cocktail or glass of wine on the porch in nice spring weather. May need to start inviting the neighbors over.
Usually I give up alcohol. This year I am toying with giving up drinking alcohol unless I am drinking with someone else. Wife does not really drink, so either I need to get a lot more social or I'll essentially be giving up drinking entirely.
I switched to them about 4 or 5 years ago as Turbotax started creeping up in price. Very easy to use and cheap. Whole family uses them now.
Some day, I'd like to meet someone who was in this group. I'd have so many questions.
I think were I Hispanic I'd feel pretty inspired.

But I'm not.

My parents, primarily my Dad since he retired sooner, were always around and babysat our kids whenever asked. They would bring them to and from school and to all kinds of functions. My Dad never said no. In laws paid for more and brought the family on vacations but would rarely sit and moved a state away from us within a year after we moved into their neighborhood within walking distance (then complained that we did not visit enough).

We had a 6 hour layover at Gatwick last year. I hate Gatwick and desperately wanted to get out of the airport, either to London or a nearby town. But after asking this board and crunching the numbers, we decided not to risk it and bought passes to one of the fancy airport lounges. Was money well spent and the most relaxing time I've spent there.

Jesuit is the best team in D1 but they always have trouble with St. Paul's in the playoffs, and St. Paul's always peaks in the playoffs. I'm hoping Jesuit will see BR High in the semis but if it's St. Paul's then it's a toss up.
I typically have a very dry sense of humor, which I got from my Dad. But I honed it in high school and college by learning in social situations that not everything in my head that seemed funny to me needed to be blurted out.

Also usually a few playing on Royal and St. Louis near the Rib Room.

Check Norse Airways too. We've had good luck flying to Europe on Norse in premium economy.
Congratulations. I echo the theme of finding a hobby that engages your brain. My great grandfather turned his garage into a woodworking shop, making furniture and toys. He built my first rocking horse. My grandfather gardened and fished. He made the best jalapeno cornbread. My dad fished and played the stock market. I plan to write fiction and dabble in photography.
This is how I will go out of this world. I'll be driving through the Hood, minding my own business, when some crazy mail lady will chase three dogs into the street directly in my path and I'll stroke out.

And Destin. Germans love our Florida beaches.
Tottenham Spurs have a beautiful new stadium and the atmosphere is great. About 45 minutes on train or bus from central London.
I've got a 2020 BMW X2 that we've only had to get some brake work performed on, other than routine maintenance. The brake work was more than for the Hondas I've owned. I think it was about $1200. We probably spend less than a $1000 a year on it. Once it starts getting expensive, we'll get rid of it. Until then, it is the best driving car we've ever owned. Also leased an X3 for three years and no issues.

re: Does anybody work until 5pm anymore?

I am out by 4:30 every day, often by 4. My staff waits for me to leave then leaves 15 min later.
About the same income as last year, when I paid $10k in federal taxes. This year I get a $3000 refund. I itemized last year also but this year the SALT increase helped me out
Beating everyone else home at the end of a work day and having a drink on the porch.
Definitely a hidden gem. Lots of people are out there excercising and hanging on the seawall, but not as much picnicing or cruising. Levee Board shuts down the access if it gets too crowded. I don't find there is more trash than any other park areas. It's just more noticeable when someone leaves a small pile of crawfish on a concrete vista.
Preparing to temporarily flee my sad, dark and damaged city for a Mardi Gras in Disney World with my wife and 3 kids under 9 yrs old; seeking some normalcy and light and laughter, no matter how artificial.

That too.

I filled both my propane tanks today. Should be great weather for hanging on the porch around the fire pit.
You also work a lot harder when you have a family to support. If it were just me, I could live on 1/10th of my current family income. Maybe less, since I'd be living with my mom and she's a great cook.

Or just a milkshake IPA. That should do it.

My assessment and property taxes went down for this year, for the first time I can recall. Not moving anytime soon so I'll take it.
