1983 ford escort hatchback. Stick shift, no AC, AM radio. Belonged to an old lady that died. Paid about 1,000 I think. Had 35,000 miles. Drive it for 3 or 4 years. Sold for 500.

Mom bought my 1st ride for me when I was 16 and then gave me her car when I turned 18. Bought my 1st truck on my own about 4 years ago, 31k for a fully loaded sierra.

1972 Chevy C10

900 bucks in 2005 I was 15 and it ran but was in rough shape

Restored it myself and drove it my 10th grade year. Rebuilt engine with new cam, lifters, carburetor, intake manifold and valve covers. Water pump and hoses, vacuum hoses. new rims and tires, new exhaust, installed new dash pad, seat upholstery, steering wheel, gauge cluster, radio and speakers, AC compressor and AC system. New shocks and ball joints and brakes. New front chrome bumper. New grille.

Did it all myself at 15 except for the exhaust system, mounting rims and tires, upholstery and had interior repainted.

I was opposite. Bought the C10 then bought a 77K5 blazer for a “mud truck”

Then gas went sky high and the C10 was burning half a tank a day to drive 30 miles to school so I got a 99 Z71 for 13k and I paid half my parents paid other half.

First and only vehicle my parents ever fully bought was a 08 z71 LTZ as a graduation gift because I got a football scholarship.

I bought an '08 Frontier in 2013 with only 8,000 miles for $14,000. I regret letting go of that vehicle.
