The NCIS: Sydney team would have put him down in one shot, before he was able to get any rounds off himself.

I'm just wondering why can't the gates stretch all the way to the other side of the road and not leave a gap for the cars to go around?
To keep cars from getting trapped by the gates. Say you have started across the gates come down, the gate only going halfway (blocking traffic coming onto the track) leaves you a means of egress.

the scene where Lee is surrounded and cheered by literal thousands of Confederate soldiers in the movie Gettysburg was a spontaneous event
But not historically inaccurate either. Lee was loved to the point of deification by his rank and file soldiers (not so much by his corps commanders). There are several recorded incidents where Lee was too close to the front and the soldiers would lead Traveller to the rear to keep Lee from harms way. Also numerous times where the soldiers would press around him as he rode by to try to shake his hand or just run a hand along Traveller.

Ronald Maxwell, the film's director, wanted to make it something of a semi-autobiographical account of the life of Stonewall Jackson. In reality the novel the film was based o
Gods and Generals (as well as Last Full Measure and most of Shaara the Younger's books) cover multiple years, while Killer Angels covered 3 days. As you said, G&G should have been a mini series or multiple films.
It's been years since reading it, but iirc First Manassas isn't even covered from the battlefield, but from reports coming back to Richmond. In the theatrical cut it was the primary battle scene.

Just like "retard" doesn't actually refer to a developmentally disabled person, "queer" doesn't refer to a gay person.
Gay meant carefree; queer meant strange or odd; fig could be a cigarette or to work hard or be tired.

want it to be at the Coliseum for the historic aspect, but the old track from 1984 was taken out in the 90s and brought the seats in closer to the field
Didn't realize that (shows how much attention I pay if I watch a USC game). With the NASCAR race and such there I just assumed everything was still there.
From that illustration it looks like everything will be elevated, even the field part in the middle.

re: Anyone have a glass eye or have intimate knowledge of someone who does?

Never known anyone with a glass eye, but did have an uncle with a wooden eye. He was very self conscious about it, never really went out, just stayed home all the time. Finally his family convinced him to go to this social function for people with physical deformities, thinking that being around others dealing with things like that would help him see that he wasn't some freak.
He goes and is having a good time. This one gal with an amazing hourglass figure catches his eye; her only physical issue is a cleft lip. As the evening goes on, they start playing music; my uncle gets up the nerve, walks over and asks her if she would like to dance. She immediately responded "Oh, would I, would I!" My uncle turns red, yells at her, "Hairlip! Hairlip!" He leaves the event and never goes to anything like it again in his life.

Both teams better have those chinstraps buckled and tightened. I don't think any SEC series is as consistently hard hitting.

they are going to be building major columns into the field to support the track.
Why are they building a raised track for the Olympics? Is it able to be raised/lowered? Seems like that would cause issues during the opening/closing ceremonies. How will it impact sight lines to the field events for those in attendance?

Also there are songs that I remember as being really popular that I never hear, at least on SXM 80s. Wasn't Stevie Wonder's I Just Called To Say I Love You a pretty big hit? I hear Madonna's Borderline a good bit but rarely ever Material Girl. Those are just a couple off the top of my head.

I was reading the movie's trivia page on IMDB. I never paid enough attention but it says the exterior shots of the plane are recycled from Airplane! (minus the prop sounds).

Here recently it seems like it.
In the late 90s/early 2000s they seemed to be our conference opener. I am 99.9 percent sure we played them 9/8/2001 in JHS.

I don't do competitions, but when I got comfortable enough with my smoker to start doing briskets fairly regularly my wife got me this Victorinox Fibrox 12 inch. I love it. Slices through warm brisket like butter.

With more conference realignment and a potential P4 split with the NCAA/G5 for football/playoff concerns I wouldn't hold my breath that any games past maybe 2028 happen.

Sadly, there will never be another John Hughes… check out this amazing resume the movies he wrote
After appearing in Vacation, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Weird Science, Anthony Michael Hall decided he needed a break from movies, or at least those types of movies.
Hughes approached him and offered both the role of Duckie in Pretty In Pink and Cameron in Ferris Bueller - Hall turned both down. It hurt Hughes so much he never spoke to Hall again.

Forecasts for us are all over the place for this coming weekend and early next week
A couple of days ago there were thoughts that north Alabama and north Georgia might not get above freezing on Saturday. Now all of the forecasts I have seen show those areas in the low 50s.
