New Ryan Bingham album

Posted by PJinAtl on 5/22/26 at 3:46 pm
Didn't see this anywhere on the first couple of pages, and the search sucks, so...

Just finished my first listen of the new Ryan Bingham album, with The Texas Gentlemen as his studio band (they've been his road band for a year or two now).

Pretty good on first listen. Typical gruff Bingham voice. Total of 10 tracks (refreshing when some other releases are 15 or more these days), just a smidge over 41 minutes in run time. I think a few will get added to my Bingham and Texas/Red Dirt playlists.

One thing that amazed me is the time/money/effort it must have taken to make the lyrics video for the song Cocaine Charlie. Maybe they aren't planning on it being a single or doing an official music video for it, but still...

Another driver, Brian Vickers used to get pulmonary embolisms and DVT

Isn't that what forced him out of the sport?

He either got clots or was in a blood thinner and was at risk for hemorrhaging if he was in a wreck.

What do y’all think of RCR retiring #8 for a long time like they did with Dale? Change the #8 to #29 or #33.

I wouldn't think so. As has already been said, the 8 isn't nearly connected to Kyle as the 3 was with Dale. Kyle was more connected to the 18 in Cup or the 51 in Trucks.

I'll be honest, I think RC got the 8 for two reasons...
1) It allowwd Kyle to have a connection to the 18, similar to Jr. going to the 88 with Hendrick
2) If JRM ever decides to field a full time Cup ride it will be easy to transfer the 8 over to them.

No, they'll race

It's what Rowdy would have wanted

Yeah, the only reason they won't drop the rag is if weather won't allow it. Sponsor commitments, fans' travel plans, etc. all dictate that the show must go on

When Dale died they all loaded up and went to Rockingham. The race started but they barely got going when rain moved in and pushed it to Monday.

This is a Dale Sr./Fireball Roberts cataclysmic loss moment for the sport. The only difference is it didn’t happen on the track.

It's this weird mix of Dale Sr's death in that you can't imagine a race without him on the track, fighting for position, mixing it up. But there's also that strange disbelief like when Davey and Alan died- if a racer is going to die you figure it'll be on the track like Sr (or Adam Petty, Clifford Allison), not a plane/helo crash or sudden medical issue.

AP is reporting that Busch became unresponsive while in the racing simulator that Chevrolet has in Concord, NC, on Wednesday and was transported to the hospital.

That GM tech center is only about 5 years old. It sits on property that's part of the Hendrick Racing compound just down the road from Charlotte Motor Speedway.

My wife had a conference in Concord in 2019 at the Embassy Suites right across the street. I took one of the days she was in the conference and hit up a ton of the race shop - Hendrick, Gibbs, Stewart-Hass, Roush, the old DEI building, JR Motorsports, and Kyle Busch Motorsports.

KBM was in this little industrial park behind some railroad tracks, but it was cool to walk in and see the 51 truck with the Rowdy name decal above the window.
It's kinda weird. Kyle says that and less than a week later he's gone

When Fox talked to Earnhardt on pit row just before the 2001 500 he said "I think it's going to be some exciting racing, and you're probably gonna see something you ain't never seen on FOX."

I know, all coincidental, but still very chilling.

Probably more likely he had sinus issues that turned into pneumonia and it went septic.

As good a guess as any.

I was wondering, would they classify an aneurysm as a "serious illness"? I know he was caught up in the wreck on Sunday; could something have happened that they didn't catch from that? I know most aneurysm ruptures are fast and pretty much immediately fatal, but there are some that just leak and cause massive headaches as they slowly progress.

And this doesn’t even factor in the extra seats being gained now with new maps.

Redistricting doesn't impact the Electoral College.

Tennessee has 11 electoral votes because they have 9 Representatives and two Senators. No matter how they redistrict they will still have 9 Representatives. Have to wait for the census and reapportionment before the number of reps and electoral votes goes up or down.

And the Ultimate Warrior runs out, hits the rope a few times, clotheslines Andre like 3 or 4 times, then splashes him and pins him, then runs out the ring. Whole thing lasted maybe 30 seconds.

I think a lot of kids got a rude introduction to WWF when they went to a non-TV taping or a taping for one of the less promoted shows.

I remember going with a couple of friends to the old Omni in Atlanta, we were like fourth row seats, and Hogan was there. He makes his big entrance, does his hand cupping his ear, all of the Hogan theatrics. He rips his shirt off and everyone is waiting for him to toss it out to the crowd.

Instead he walks over to the ropes and just drops it by the side of the ring. Match goes on, Hogan wins and leaves. Someone from WWF walks up, picks up the torn up shirt and carries it back up the walkway to the dressing room. I remember hearing this one kid, on the brink of tears, pleading with one of the security people that Hogan's shirt was right there and begging to be able to get it.
Don't mean to derail the thread, but is the original series streaming anywhere? I'm at that age where I'm nostalgic for some of the shows I watched as a kid (Knight Rider, A-Team, Galactica, Fall Guy) and haven't really been able to find many of them.

Republican blacks aren't really black tho. Amirite?

Apparently not. The ones already in Congress aren't allowed to join the Congressional Black Caucus.
That's my understanding.

I've never really understood having sheriff as an elected position. Here in the Atlanta area a former Braves pitcher was sheriff for nearly 20 years based strictly on his name.
Not sports related but if you were in Auburn anytime after 1998 you've probably seen Jay Jones name as Lee County sheriff.

He lost his reelection race last night to a former deputy.

Some talk on Xwitter that Jones was refusing to work with the Trump administration on apprehending illegals in the county.

The suggestion that it's necessary for White House security is obviously bullshite.

You do realize that the recently razed East Wing was built as cover (literally and figuratively) for the Presidential Emergency Operations Center aka PEOC aka underground secure bunker. Go look at pictures from 9/11 and you will see Cheney, Laura Bush, etc. inside the PEOC.

The old PEOC was built during WW2 to protect FDR from a potential air attack on DC. It was kept as modern as possible but the time has come to completely rebuild it, which meant tearing down the East Wing to grant access to the underground space.

An interesting stat I saw this morning. Not only did KLB have her worst performance in the Atlanta area, there was a strong positive correlation between distance from Atlanta and her %.

Come November all of the Ds will coalesce around her and there will be national stories pumping her as the first black governor in the south since Reconstruction, the first black female governor, etc. But I do think some folks in town will remember how she handled the Floyd riots and the Rayshard Brooks case.

Calling APD officers murders and allowing the militant takeover that got Secoriea Turner killed will make for some great negative campaign ads against her.

I’m sure there are much more qualified people to run for political office than riverboat gambler Tommy Tuberville or don’t know how many people are on the field, daddy got me my job Derek Dooley, but then again, looking around at people in various political positions, maybe not?

It's not like these two are the first sports attached folks to run for office.

Steve Largent (Seahawks wide receiver spent eight years as a US House rep from Oklahoma.
Former Nebraska head coach Tom Osborne served six years in the House as a rep from Nebraska.
Former Braves pitcher Pat Jarvis spent 19 years as the elected sheriff of DeKalb County.

Those are all just off the top of my head. They run (or are convinced to run) because they have name recognition and, usually, the right letter by their name in the ballot for the area they are running in.
What was wrong with the first person's legs? Looked like there wasn't any muscle or fat.

If you’re in a red state, you can’t win as an openly anti-Trump republican, especially not in a closed primary.

Very true.

ome November, we will see if that translates to pro Trump candidates defeating democrats in November.

This is the important part. We have seen that sometimes a Trump endorsement helps in the general, other times it gets the worst possible candidate on the Republican ticket and sets up an arse kicking (see Herschel Walker running for Senate in Georgia).
