1962 Chevy Biscayne, 4-door, 6 cylinder, black in color, floorboards in front seat rusted out, so I put metal service station gas signs in the floorboard to cover the holes. No radio, no air, damn little heat. $400 which I borrowed from the bank. Banker was family friend. No paperwork, handed me the cash, told me I could pay back $5 a week as I was making $10 a week working about 30 or so hours.

1982 Honda Civic hatchback with 150,000 miles. $650. Lasted for years with minimal care. Eventually gave it to my uncle to use on his farm in upstate NY like it was an old dog.

Fresh off the boat in Australia in 2000 and needed some wheels quick. Bought a mustard yellow 1976 Toyota Carona for $200. It was ugly as sin but had a good engine in it, and got me from point A to point B. I had it for about a year and helped me get established down there, so I considered it a good car.

Used 1983 Gold Toyota Tercel liftback, 5 speed manual. I put in an Alpine stereo and speakers for my cassette tapes. $2,000. About $2400 after adding stereo.
