It’s a shame most men end up marrying some woman that’s half arse hot and shows interest in them at the time. They don’t look at and specifics outside of that.

Stepdad should put a stop to it as well.

"Only your mama calls me daddy."

Seriously, though. That sucks, OP. Good luck.

This is situational right? If dad is showing up and making the effort, step-dad needs to respect that.

If dad isn’t doing his part, gloves are off and step dad can go for the title?

Sounds like OP is showing up and step dad and ex need to respect that.

Very tough situation, because you have very little control over the situation. All you can do is ask your wife to not have your daughter call the other guy Dad. As someone who has been through divorce with 2 kids, my only advice is to maximize the times that you have with your daughter and never abdicate your job as a father. This means not only loving your daughter, but raising her correctly with discipline and teaching moments. It is way to easy to try and spoil them and try to "one up" your wife with the activities that you do with your daughter. It will take awhile (years), but your daughter will realise what you mean to her.

I would have a talk with the step-dad and attack it from that angle. He should respect your wishes on this.

Just for a piece of a pussy. It’s sad. One piece of pussy ruins lives.

Man up.

The more she pushes for calling step dad dad, the more confusing it gets for the kid.

It’s less confusing to just say I’m dad and he’s moms husband.

Also why any man would be ok with being called dad by a child who is not their biological child is beyond me.

My thoughts are women shouldn’t get custody of children in the majority of situations. The data is pretty clear

The only reason women get more custody is because men don’t fight for it.

Courts no longer favor the mother it’s 50/50.

Does the stepfather treat her poorly? Does the mother bad mouth you to the child? If neither of these things are happening be thankful and get over what she calls him.

It’s your pride that’s taken a hit. If your daughter grows up with 2 dads that love her and keep her safe then you need to be grateful.

If you get remarried and your daughter wants to call your new wife mom will you correct her and make sure she knows your new wife is not her mom?

Make your relationship with your daughter greater than any label and be confident as a father nothing can be greater than that relationship. When my ex and I divorced I gave my son permission to call her new husband whatever he wanted. Today my son and I have a very close relationship

I empathize with your situation and I’m not trying to be an a-hole here but you’ve sorta chosen this.

You gotta work, I get that. But brother you see your daughter 8 days out of the month. Less than 1/4th of all your days. Your ex shouldn’t be doing this (obviously) but you are ceding your position and getting pissed that some other dude is taking it.

You need more time in her life. That is the only solution. You might be the funnest bestest thing to happen to your daughter every other weekend, but that won’t make you Dad. Dad is the 1000 tiny, predictable, solid, grounded things that she experiences on all those other days.

Figure out how to be that for her and it won’t matter what your ex tells her to call this dude or the others that are sure to follow.

He sees her once a week and every other weekend so that'll be tough. He got hosed in the custody battle.

God, you fricking suck dude.

I know people that have had wonderful wives and lives then some postpartum depression hormones turn the wife's personality upside down. What is he supposed to do... predict that? frick you and get out your bubble before placing the blame on the husband. I sure hope all is truly perfect in your life because you're throwing some serious stones from your glass house.

OP, life can be tough. It will give you enough things to stress about.. don't make dumb decisions that will create more stress for yourself. Try hard to focus on those things that you can actually do something about. Finally, do the best you can to be the moral compass the child will need. Good luck

Edit -- also I agree with the post above me. There's no reason you can't do 50/50. Get to work on being a dad.

Some kids have two dads, and some have none. Hard to know your situation from a social media post.
