That sucks. Usually the stepdad is called Mike or Jim or whatever they’re actual name is same with step moms

I tell young men I know to be very careful who you choose to have kids with. You are tied to the mother of your child for life unfortunately. I’d suggest limited contact and only discussions about the child.

Seems like she needs another mommy

Who said I was shocked?

You knocked up some woman who within a matter of 2, 3 years leaves you for a married man and now you’re worried about who the baby calls Daddy??
Well, we were married at the time. Yes, I’m worried about it. In the grand scheme of things, this is probably a minor thing to worry about, because she seems to be raised well otherwise. She has people in her life that love her.
Your responses indicate deeper problems. Are you projecting? Or just doing a poor job of trolling?

Just curious. How old are you?
Posted on 7/26/26 at 10:14 pm to Trough Urinal
You have a three year old and your ex is already remarried? It’s probably his kid.

I made sure of it baw.

You should discuss this with your attorney.

We went through this with my former husband.
We were a gay couple and adopted one of those children you see on TV.
At first it was great, but once the kid started talking, we kept getting into fights over who is "dad"
We got divorced.
Long Story short. We are both called Dad.

Call this “projecting” or whatever lingo you feel best describes my comment and salves your wounds, but I call it reality.
You made a bad decision. Own up to it and make damn sure your child doesn’t suffer because of it. It’s on you. Not your ex or her current husband (and there will be others, I’m willing to bet).

I chose poorly. Sure.

Not sure how any of this pertains to my original question and situation.

An emotional manipulator rarely changes its spots. All I can say is good luck.

What you need to do if at all possible is be the better man in the long run and not let shite like that bother you.
As she gets older show her who her real dad is. Do stuff with her and be active. If you only get a weekend with her don’t let that time be sitting in front of the tv. Make her want you to be her real dad.

quote:yup. same thing happened to me. I haven’t spoken to her since I lost my home in the flood in 2016. I guess i wasn’t important to her any longer bc I wasn’t daddy.
Anybody dealt with this type of fun?

At the end of the day, I’m still seeing her once a week and every other weekend, so I can’t force them to fix this situation and be amenable to my wants.

Your ex having her call her step-father "dad" is parental alienation. Talk to your lawyer.
If you can get more custody time, you'll pay less child support. Maybe that will let you throttle back on the time you spend on work?
I don't think you should just let this go. Nip it in the bud before it becomes a bigger problem, in my experience as a step-mom (of older kids). In any case, good luck, and I hope you can get your situation straightened out. Good dads are irreplaceable. Be one.

Your ex is weaving that web to lock down the new man. A lockdown pregnancy is surely next in the playbook.

Yep...straight up told my daughter that there was only one "Daddy" and that was me. Told the ex to shove it and come up with something else.
There wasn't going to be a daddy bob and a daddy mike...period.
