I’m a lawyer and I don’t like my job. It pays the bills though. I’ve only got about 25 more years of this.

I do. I couldn't see spending an entire career in a job I hate.

Nope but what are you gonna do. Just gonna have to find a way to make it through the next 30 years

I try to dissuade anyone from becoming a lawyer. Unless, you love the law and have a 10M trust fund so you do it just for the love of it, don’t.

I do. Like the challenge. Wouldn’t mind more money though.

Yes, free Popeye's err'day

Sure.
It’s exhausting and anxiety inducing, but Scruffy does enjoy it.
A job is merely a vehicle to get the money to do what you actually love doing.
Loving your job is unnecessary. Being able to tolerate it and getting the time to enjoy yourself off the clock are the only factors that should matter.

Absolutely!
The day-to-day(both good & bad) interactions with co-workers & customers makes the day go by. Proper compensation makes it even better...

I do because it's a pressure cooker and the success and the failure of the company rests on my shoulders.
It's when I thrive so no complaints here. I also believe it's very important to be happy in your career field and at the company you are employed by.
So the whole

It's fine.
Don't love it, don't hate it. It's not fulfilling work, personally.
But it good pay/benefits and a good work life balance. I've got kids to think about. It is a parent's sacrifice and I am comfortable with that.

I'm a big Cal Newport guy. More people in life need to read his books. For this topic, they should read this book:
Cal Newport should be 10x as famous as he is

I loved my job. It made the work years fly by having fun while making a nice living.

I agree.
A very small percentage of the population finds a job that pays well, allows time with family, and is something they love to do.
As long as I'm healthy and not completely miserable, I can tolerate this job for a very long time due to the upside.

I don’t like it. But I don’t hate it either. I appreciate it and understand it’s something I have to do.

I wouldn't do it for free but other than the commute I don't really have anything to complain about. I like the people, the work isn't bad, it's often challenging, and I rarely think about it when I'm at home. I have a couple of weeks per year where I'd consider myself stressed about work. I can't remember the last time I've worked more than 36 hours in a week.

I agree with this. I have great pay for the sector, and the benefits are amazing. The work is fine. If i hated it, then, it would be an issue.

Now I'm just a bartender, and I don't like my work
But I don't mind the money at all
I've seen lots of sad faces and lots of bad cases
Of folks with their backs to the wall
