Every time I go to any bank there is a least 1 other person doing a transaction.

Years ago Chase Bank made a huge deal out of removing almost all tellers from their branches. They went to a system where customers used ATM machines for deposits and withdrawals and so forth.

My mortgage is with Chase, but that's the only account I have with them. I went to pay my mortgage, but couldn't use the drive through ATMS because I didn't have a card.

The drive up for the tellers was closed, because Chase figured it wasn't needed any more.

So I had to go into the branch. And I was stuck in line behind 20 other people with only one very harassed looking teller working the line.

It didn't help that I had my 3 year old with me.

That didn't last long. Chase now fully staffs their branches with tellers.

They would need to remove the restrictions on mobile deposits. They have a per check restriction, daily limit, and revolving 30-day limit that we exceed on a regular basis. Plus, we still receive international checks and have to physically run those to the banks as well.

Some days I'm depositing 15 checks or more. I'm not sitting there on mobile deposit doing all that shite to have a hold put on some of them due to amounts. I'll go see Hannah instead

Same. I still get a lot of paper checks since the industry I work in is aging. I use it out of convivence when needed since I walk past it most days. And they pop popcorn on Fridays.

Most personal banking can be done with the app/ATM. But if you own a business, you definitely will need a teller to handle deposits that are cash/check if you are a decent size business.

I work for a top 10/15 bank in the US in asset size.

There was a pilot program for "teller less" branches across multiple markets. It was a complete failure and has been entirely unwound. When people have an issue with THEIR money they want to talk to a real live human being, and a large subset of the population want that to be in person.

In the last decade my bank has cut in half the number of branches her in town. And they have cut down the number of tellers. I need a teller in order to make large deposits and that teller also is a VP in the bank.

On another note has anyone noticed all the banks that no longer exist in SE Louisiana ?

Baton Rouge Bank
Fidelity Bank
City National Bank
Louisiana National Bank
Dixie Federal

They will be a thing cause if business transactions and some person transactions but for the normal stuff, the computer can do that if it’s just depositing cash or checks
