Been here my whole life and have never heard any of these.

I guess you don't get out much. I used to work political campaigns in this state and would hear something along the lines with at least half the people I talked to. Louisiana's problems are self inflicted, we're not victims at all. If you're smart or ambitious and not well connected, the smartest thing you can do is leave this state.

feel bad for people that have to move to Houston to get good jobs. ?

There’s no way I would let a job dictate where I live.

Happened to me. I'm kind of glad though. My family lives a much better quality of life here and I make about 2x what I made in Louisiana.

Some people are ambitious and need jobs, it's just the way the world works.

There's no reason why Louisiana can't be like that. If this stae would start voting better and put some effort into improving their community instead of complaining or coping with weird anecdotal arguments and this state will finally start improving l.
Bradley is more than likely 50 lbs heavier, makes closer to $95k, works at a plant/industrialcomtractor/offshore,and lives in Prairieville or Broussard.

am actually amazed by the pure ignorance on this board.

The opposite, should have tripled down. Granted it’s not anything they could have done in the last 20-30 years but Laffy could have been what Houston was but LA govt sucks

More like 50 years ago but I doubt it given its location. Houston has a huge port for petrochemical operations, is close enough to the rigs in the GOA, and it's a shorter drive to the Permian and the shale regions of Texas and Oklahoma. They can consolidate corporate, downstream, midstream, and upstream in one centralized location.

Tulsa, OKC, Fort Worth, Shreveport, Lafayette, and New Orleans all had potential but lost out to Houston to due its location and geography.

HEB in the Houston area also has a good selection of Cajun ingredients if you want to cook anything. I can pretty much get anything except for specialty items but I usually drive to Lafayette every 2 months to help my mom with stuff and I always make a point of stopping in Scott on the way out and stocking up on stuff.

I know this is a running joke, but the working Louisiannian deserves better. I knew alot of great people there, but the state is so badly managed that we left at the first opportunity.

I stayed around for 10 years thinking things would improve or I could help out but I realized it was self inflicted. Talk to an average voter for 15 minutes and you will see why.

Chances are you'll hear things like
"He's one of us"
"I know his family and they good people"
"I used to hunt with his brother in law"
"His mom taught me in the second grade"

Not their economic plans or their management experience.

There used to be a lot of Venezuelan O&G baws in Lafayette but they've all retired or moved to Houston since.
It was shite back in the 90's, can't imagine how bad it is now after 30 years of being run by illiterate Chavistas.
If you're in New Orleans, Hondurans have been here since the 60's.

There was a thread a while back right after the attacks on the drug boats started where I said there was absolutely no chance the US is invading Venezuela. That this was all just saber rattling.

To be fair, it is isnt exactly an invasion. We just went in to take him out (he was probably given up by his peers). There's an opposition party that's pro US that's arguably won the last 3 presidential elections waiting to take power.

Anybody else think someone close to Maduro collected that $50 mil?
Something else happened in 1492 that lead to Spain's Golden Age and Im not talking about Columbus either.

‘S. Pretty much like every other town of that size that I have lived in.

. I would have to disagree with you disagreeing.

I used to go there frequently when I lived in Louisiana. Since the 2000's, there's definitely a lot less commercial activity than there used to be. There's also a verifiable population and economic decline if you want to look it up.

Several other neighborhoods he could’ve gone into that would’ve shown more upscale housing.

Im sure that's true but let's not sugarcoat it, Alexandria and CENLA in general is in serious decline. Coping isn't going to help improve things.

With social media being the town square now, more and more kids in each succeeding generation are being raised on Instagram and TikTok and have no idea of what it’s like to actually live without social media. It’s just a giant cluster frick of problems that only gets worse with each following generation. With each subsequent generation, the narcissism and immaturity skyrockets while IQ plummets.

You should definitely complain about it on a message board and Facebook instead of unplugging yourself and your family.
Im sure a lot people put Jaxon's travel ball expenses on this thing and pay on it until they're 60.
