We have a bank in my building lobby. Four tellers just sitting there with no customers 90% of the time. Sometimes on payday you get some folks lined up, but even the end of the month looks slow.

Who uses bank tellers?

For very few things. I’ve been inside a bank maybe 5 times in the past 10 years.

We don't need nearly as many as we used to, but we still need some. As an example, I walked into a bank a few months ago for the first time in who knows how many years because I needed to deposit a money order. While that could be automated, I'm not sure you could do it with a level of accuracy acceptable for that kind of financial instrument.

There’s always people who would rather tell a person what they want that person to do for them than to simply do it themselves.

The rest of us that would rather do it ourselves have to help subsidize that shite.

Exactly. When all the jobs are gone, who is going to buy anything?

I haven't been to my back in so long. And I take checks daily. I scan then on phone and do everything on the app. If i have a real issue then I'll go to bank.

My dad in the flip side is 70 and his to the bank 4x a week likely.

Yes, sometimes the computer gets wrong what a human can easily understand.

I deposited 7 checks the other day. I hadn't been to the bank in about a month and they were smaller checks and I'm definitely not balling out, but I agree with you. How would you desposit checks without a bank teller?

Youd be surprised how many teller transactions many banks complete daily. Sure some branches are probably slow but theres a reason they are still building banks.

Mobile deposit? However, most businesses deal with cash deposits daily, so that's what I was referring to.

Believe it or not, a lot of people would rather do business in person with a human being. Weird I know.

There is something that feels right about walking into my local branch, being greeted by the banker, and getting some crisp bills from a sweet teller. I don't like male tellers though.
