Article says her diarrhea splatters caused several athletes to fall and equipment had to be sanitized. On those grounds I think she should have been disqualified.

I saw the sanitized part but missed other athletes falling. Yeah, disqualified.

ETA: The article directly below stated the best female time so far is 54:25; the runny competitor did 1:01.23. Her incontinence may have warded off other competitors from beating that.

diarrhea is a good reason to quit anything at any time in any context.

the weekend as fecal matter streamed down her legs — and somehow still managed to clinch first place.

around 2001 or so I was at the state track meet and I saw girl sprint from 6th place to second place and peed all over herself the last 100 meters.

she just fell over and a puddle formed.

on one hand, gross, on another hand, amazing to see.

She should have been forced to quit. Other athletes are using those same lanes and equipment.

I get her not wanting to quit, as this is her payday, but the Hyrox officials have to step in and remove her.

Yeah you'd think they'd have some sort of proctcedure in place to handle something like this

She worked hard to get to that race, had what it took to win it. As shocking as it is, bowel issues and runners aren’t exactly unheard of.

All well and good, except the clean-up apparently wasn't perfect and caused other athletes to fall. She may very well have prevented them from beating her time.

"But the cleanup apparently couldn't keep pace with the mess. Participants and spectators reported that poop was left smeared on equipment and across the track after Wietrzyk suffered a bout of fecal incontinence, causing several athletes to fall."

This was indoor and wasn't strictly running. Also included rowing, farmer's carry, burpees and lunging among other things. Would suck to have to do all that indoors with fecal matter residue on the ground.

That’s on Hyrox. If they didn’t keep up with the cleaning or stop her, she did did what she came there for- finish the race.

A weak person would have quit and cleaned up, embarrassed. A strong person carries on and is embarrassed. I might start wearing senior depends because this has never happened to me. But it could.

I read the article, they will have a better plan in place going forward.

It’s funny the shite the athlete is getting for this when it’s something the event actually should bear the responsibility for preventing, addressing, and managing the completely expected potential that an athlete will lose control of their bowels.

Well, I’m not shitting you if that’s what you’re asking.

My idea of athleticism is dancing the chacha slide to the kitchen to refill my water.

Even I know that endurance sports can and do get messy. She ain’t the first contestant photographed wearing shite or piss during an event.

If Hyrox didn’t stop her- I don’t blame her for finishing.

The saying is winners don’t quit and quitters don’t win… nobody said winners don’t shite.

If she can dish it she can take it

Nah I totally agree. Some people are unfortunately incapable of empathy and realizing what a nightmare that must have been and will continue to be for the athlete.

People are actually defending this like it’s not some kind of MASSIVE bio hazard to people around her.

I don’t care how hard she worked or how mortified she was. She fricking shite in a public place and put people around her at risk by not immediately leaving.

Same dipshits that defend women who piss in the gym when they squat because “they can’t help it. Their pelvic floor is low from having babies!!”
