Pretty sure we figured out his electrical knowledge when he thought a 18.6MWh storage pack was for residential.

I missed that part.

Yeah it's pretty common for folks to scream at the sky that we can't possibly produce and store all this energy and then blow the requirements out of proportion by 3 or 4 orders of magnitude.

That's going to hurt me with my Lightning. But there is an article in Poli about the UAE concerned with dwindling supplies commencing in 2024. Maybe my cost will be less than their costs in 2024. That Lightning Lariat is a pretty fine truck.

I know California has rolling brown outs every year and people were freezing to death in Texas a few years ago. You're right, I don't know shite.

Are you then saying we don't have the infrastructure to support people having electricity in their homes?

Because that is EXACTLY what you are saying.

I would laugh at this, but I also have no clue what that means.

I generally do a good job, or at least try to, stay in my lane in these threads in terms of what I know and don't. When you and Korkstand get going, that shite may as well be written in Chinese and I'll understand it the same, which is not at all lol.

Some places definitely struggle more than others. Flooding, ice, extreme heat, etc., have all affected power outages every year since man invented electricity.

My only thing with the EV cultist is the attitude that it's the end-all be-all when it comes to the "energy crisis." The reality is if the government would get the frick out of the way private industry would create competition and affordable products. My biggest issue is the Democrats acting like if we all just by a golf cart the climate change boogie man will go away.

I hear you, and not saying you specifically but in general, I think people come to these threads and complain about that or they complain about how EV folks think they're saving the world, but they're arguing with no one. I'm not sure I've ever seen a poster saying those things in these threads, so I don't get why it's brought up so often.

Completely agree

Definitely, California and Texas already named as 2. But as Korkstand, that is not the fault of EVs nor is it a reason to no move forward with EV technology. If so, then it's also a reason to get rid of electricity in homes, because they can't seem to get a handle on that either.

He was mentioning that the tech isn't there for utility scale storage. Well, I just happen to have just gotten off a call with a buddy who's sitting on a bunch of Tesla Mega Packs to the tune of 18.6 Mega Watt hours of storage (Or 18,600 kWh, or 248 LR model 3s, or 1,377.77 PowerWall2s, or enough to run an average house for 1.69 years). So, we thought that was pretty funny when he mentions that there were houses that use 18.6MWh.

Totally temporary...until EV ownership increases to the point that it over-taxes the outdated grid that's already teetering.

Almost as if we could plan for that

These people buy the vehicle because they want to "save the planet" and then bitch about the cost. Hypocrites. Pay those carbon credits!

And a hellava lot more time consuming.
Also, if electricity was taxed like gas to pay for road maintenance, etc., it would be even more expensive.

Turnpikes existed long before 1916.

Some people buy them because they're pretty fun to drive around.

It's been posted before, the majority of people by them for this reason and others and not the "save the planet" stuff.

Like many things, it's just something a few people say, and then others who can't think for themselves or do research for themselves just repeat because they have nothing of value to add to a conversation.

temporary and regional

It will not be temporary, unless you think of temporary as a decade. A large piece of our nations electricity still comes from natural gas, and the areas that love electric cars make it tough to bring them (cheap) natural gas.
