What if it’s only marginally cheaper though? Does it still make financial sense?

It's really impossible to answer for everyone but yes, in alot of instances it can still make financial sense if just comparing fuel savings is marginally cheaper.

I believe electric cars are a future. I just think fuel cell electric makes so much more sense than battery electric.
You can recharge/refill a hydrogen car in 5 minutes.

I love when factual posts are heavily downvoted. Because idiots would rather downvote and run than rebut.

Wait... so increasing Demand for something without also increasing Supply makes Price go up???

Well butter my biscuit. I am completely shocked. Shocked, I tell you.

I’m not an EV proponent, but I heard the opposite story from an Uber driver a couple weeks ago. He’s spending less than $10 per recharge.

Because of government policy. Correct.

Thats because this is a very isolated story that exists on the extremes. And the math only works out to support the headline when you use an inefficient hybrid, electrical prices with no context or mention of TOU, etc. It costs $8 every 10 days to charge my wife's model 3. Thats up from about $7 a few months ago.

true, but it also was not subsidized by horse owners taxes and the government did not go out and build gas stations with horse owners tax money.

No one threatened to make horse illegal by a certain arbitrary date, and no one blamed horses for the end of the world, or tried to force them to get rid of their horse.

False.

It's not possible for two reasons.
1- Because previous to the IRA PTC (probably the only thing we should thank Biden for) nuclear had a hard time attracting investors because of the ludicrous pre-development litigations cost by NIMBYs. The IRA should change the economics enough to bring investors with the pockets to put up a fight to the table an keep them there. We'll see what the fed guidance says when it's released soon.

2- Because nuclear supplies base load capacity and demands fluctuates more that 10% every day. You can't spin a reactor up and down to keep up with that. 50% is the number you're looking for. Although thats still hyper centralization and comes with its own pitfalls.

They just invented electricity? Nah. Electricity prices aren’t getting significantly cheaper for a very long time

My family's two-car strategy (EV daily commuter, ICE road trips) remains undefeated.

Our electricity plan offers a "free" rate off-peak from midnight to 3. Pretty good deal so far.
