Alabama NIL Content Director Arrested In Human Trafficking Sting

The director of content for Alabama's official NIL collective, Yea Alabama, was arrested this week as part of a human trafficking operation in Shelby County, Alabama.

Robert Aaron Suttles, a former Alabama beat writer for The Athletic and The Tuscaloosa News, was charged with soliciting prostitution after authorities say he paid $100 for sexual activity during an undercover operation.

Yea Alabama quickly announced that Suttles has been suspended, stating that the matter involves "personal conduct unconnected to any Yea Alabama business" while its internal review continues. The University of Alabama also clarified that Suttles is not a university employee, but rather works for the independent NIL collective.

The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force said the operation resulted in 15 arrests and emphasized its commitment to combating human trafficking and protecting vulnerable victims. Suttles was later released from jail after posting a $1,000 bond.
