Yeah, they carry some responsibility and burden, but what is the root issue?

Is it no ok to discuss the root of the problem and the options on how to solve that problem?

The DA of EBR doesn’t try cases. He has a first assistant than actually runs the office and section chiefs that run each section. The only stress they have is getting elected. Oh and getting up in the middle of the night to go to a murder scene. He doesn’t have the right mindset to be a DA.

I know how the office is structured. If you think Hillar is sitting around eating bon bons, I’m not sure what to tell you

Yeah. He was a criminal DEFENSE attorney before being elected DA.

You really don’t know shite about him or his background.

I know him. He’s a nice guy sure. But he doesn’t have the right attitude to be DA.

During the library shite there were tons of comparisons between BTR’s budget to library vs other cities our size. What’s the story with the DA, their budget+whatever other revenue they bring in and other cities??

You’re right, I had no idea that Hillar used to do criminal defense work, or which attorney (then judge, now retired) he worked under. And I definitely don’t have any experience working against, and later in partner with, his office. Absolutely no clue what I’m talking about whatsoever…

Nobody in this thread claims the DA tries cases.

You make the most irrelevant statements in your attempt to hide your ignorance about what's being discussed and in hopes everyone forgets your dumbass previous statements.

Have you been diagnosed as being bi-polar?

We’re not allowed to point out the root issue. Coach Sid made it a point to go on record and remind us of that at the press conference.

You live in a blue city in the south.

Yeah, they just made a little row for bikes to ride dangerously close to cars that are driving in lanes that are dangerously too narrow now. Wtf.

I'm not anti-bike lanes, but those were are waste of money. I'd have rather them used that to fill some potholes or sync some traffic lights. There were already sidewalks.

Almost all doesn't mean all. If we we're spending a single cent to make a bike path instead of trying to crack down on crime, our priorities are whack

I don't know anything more than I saw today from him at the PC... even Kamala Harris would need a decoder ring to begin to fathom even the idea of whatever the hell he was trying to say.

I was not impressed.

All the local yokels looked bad, from the mayor to the DA to the chief to the sheriff.

Total clown show.

Even though I question Landry’s political platitudes, he at least sounded good.

How can a mayor stop crime?

All he can do is try to get money for police…wait, didn’t they announce this week that BRPD officers are getting raises?

As far as the DA goes, yes they need to be funded better. Doesn’t the city council have to do this?

As far as bike paths, didn’t all that money get voted on with the MoveBR tax thingy?

The ONLY thing a government can do to stop this kind of thuggery is to have judges stop releasing criminals. That’s the only power a government actually has to fix this. You can’t have police everywhere. If a cop was sitting at the food court, then the thugs would have been somewhere else. You cannot have public cops sitting in all private businesses all day long.

The real solution is to fix the culture. You can see Baton Rouge thugs on YouTube cutting up and the adults who should be shaming them are encouraging them and defending them. Kids can run amuck inside the mall and the adults will say: “Let them kids have fun” “Better than in the streets shooting each other”

The culture in Baton Rouge is to embrace the thuggery. Yes, they don’t want the shootings, but they love the other actions. Just look at the student section in Tiger Stadium when they play Boosie. Acting thuggish is celebrated, even in Tiger Stadium.

NOTHING is going to change if the people who are encouraging the culture don’t stop.

They spent millions putting bike paths down S Harrells Ferry several months back while making the driving lanes narrower.

I drove that last weekend. It was so bizarre how narrow the left lane is now
